Yes, as are chemistry and physics, and (not meaning to be rude, but being unable to avoid it, sorry) so is spelling and being able to put your ideas over clearly and accurately.

I can tell you for sure that Biology is absolutely necessary for Biotechnology.
Why? I think it's self-explanatory.

If it does not have your interest you are not going to like either study. Think of that.
