He just won't eat the food i've tryed, and if he does eat it, I have to put a bit on the floor, he won't eat it out of his dish.

Let him get used to his dish. I've had a Shih tzu, and she tried to be finicky, but when she got hungry, she ate what was in her bowl.

Don't let the dog be the one deciding when and what you feed it. Table scraps are the bad for the animal as they do not have the nutrients in the proper proportions that the animal needs for good health.

Puppy chow or one of the other puppy foods should be adequate for a diet. Make sure to always have a fresh water supply available.

Healthy food - go to a pet store that has high quality products. Some foods are Chicken Soup for the Dogs Soul, Solid Gold, Merrick, California Natural. You can add some canned turkey or chicken to his food. You can also feed him "human" food - which is actually what healthy dog food is - low sodium, low fat chicken, turkey, duck, lamb, starches such as rice, potatoes, pasta; veggies such as peas, carrots, asparagus (canned); fruits such as watermelon, tomatoes, apples, bananas. DO NOT feed any chocolate, raisins, grapes, macadamia nuts, onions. Check Whole Dog Journal for their annual list of the best dog foods.
