I was diagnoised with Hypothyroidism 2 years ago...I was at a great place in my life, physically...
I gained a lot of weight........and feel like I can't get rid of it.
I have always had weight issues but not like this.
I have no energy. I work two jobs and have two kids (singel mom)...so when i am finally done excercise is the last thing I want to do....I am starting to feel depressed, and defeated..........I am not young anymore. My level was checked a few months ago and my meds are right. Is there something out there that can give me back.............

I have been in treatment, have good and bad days..but don't have much motivation, seeing it takes all i have to get through work without people even knowing what is going on, I seem to have kept gaining weight even after starting treatment...I know i need to excercise, but I am just tired with all I do that I cant find the energy, yet hate the way I look, that i cant even look in the mirror.

adults, untreated hypothyroidism can cause several complications, including fluid around the heart and an increase in the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides (increasing the risk of coronary artery disease and stroke). Severe hypothyroidism can cause a life-threatening condition called myxedema coma.

Whether untreated hypothyroidism gets better or worse depends on its cause and your age. Hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis—a disease in which the body's natural defense (immune) system attacks the thyroid gland—occasionally will disappear on its own. More often, you will have a gradual loss of thyroid function....................................

Good luck! I understand your dilema.

No wonder you are tired! Working two jobs and having two children on top of that, you should be exhausted. With the added weight, your body has to work that much harder to get done what you need to do.

Unfortunately, I do not have any answers. I only can feel some of what you feel. I too have gained a lot of weight since I was put on the medication several years ago.

I totally understand how you feel. I was diagnosed with ME a few months ago which cuases weight gain depression etc so I sympathise with you.
Do you suffer with fatigue, lack of motivation, being tearful???

This is how I felt, I didnt want to leave the house and felt so unhappy.

ME is a condition which effects your immune system and slows down your body and metabolism, check it out on the internet and remember you need to stay strong and positive and you will get better I promise.

Go back to your Doctor and ask to have your B12, Vit D and ferritin levels tested. Being hypo causes alot of other things to go out of whack. Be sure to have your FreeT4 and FreeT3 tested as well. If your Doctor dosen't agree to do it get a new doctor.Your TSH number might be in the lab reference ranges but they might not be the right number for you. Optimizing thyroid meds takes alot of work and patience. There is no one size fits all. My TSh number is fine but I feel like hell all the time so now I am seeking out a new Doctor who will help me . You are not alone in this battle. Good luck to you

Join this hypothyroid yahoo group. I'm hypothyroid. I also put on 30 lbs. My blood work is normal. My TSH is under 1, yet I'm still tired. You can try Armour Thyroid or add T-3 to the T-4 that you're probably taking.

Fucothin or different algae supplements. Kelp and algae are organic cures for thyroid issues. the kind I actually were taking for hypothyroidism is fucothin, yet any algae supplement may help. you may actual purchase powdered kelp/algae at some healthfood shops, that ought to correctly be extra to smoothies. you may also attempt spirulina, even if that is extra of an urge for nutrition suppresant, although that is an algae, and also you should purchase it in maximum wellbeing nutrition sections of grocery shops.
