why put your p.c at risk by downloading software from the internet,a few simple tasks you can do yourself will keep your p.c clean
1.right click local disc c: >properties>disc clean up......this will clean your hard drive and free up space,do this at the end of EVERY day
2 type %temp% as a run command, this will take you to the temporary folder,,you should then edit>select all>delete, cleaning out this folder should be done every other day
3. type msconfig as a run command and go to the start up tab,now uncheck all the software that has nothing to do with windows i.e printers, winzip, abode reader, spybot,,all you are doing here is taking away the start up items, not the programs!
4.defraggment your hard drive once a week,as this will keep your p.c,s speed up to scratch start>programs>accesories>system tools>disc defragmenter
5.right click, local disc and go to tools and select error check, you should tick fix any problems, and ok,you will then have to restart to run the error check, omce finished it will restart again and start up normally
most cleaner software does what i have explained ,but this way you are not opening yourself up to on-line viruses or spyware
good luck with your p.c

The best and also free software is spybot search and destroy. It was built and improved by a german student who spent load of time together with other enthusiasts to offer this for free. of course they ask for donation but you dont have to if you dont want to as is not compulsory. here is the link and good luck.
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
once downloaded basically you need to run the program looking for any problem like adware, spyware, etc. But this should not replace your regular anti virus. you make sure you have an upto date anti virus like mcafee running at the same time. good luck

You need this lot;
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out.
Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted
incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to
access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats
one less way for problems to get on your pc.

is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes
to I.E.
