green card after 6 months it will state that you are a conditional permanent resident. citizenship after 3 years if you are still married to the same spouse! i am about to become a citizen!! if you need anymore info just let me know! i have been there and done that! good luck!
the others below are not completely true. When you get married you apply for your work visa and green card, you will get your work visa in about 6 weeks, the green card will follow anywhere from 3-6 months and will arrive in the mail. It will state that you are a conditional permanent resident. After two years you have to apply to get the conditions removed, you will then be re-fingerprinted and a new card that states that you are a permanent resident will come in the mail.. The laws have recently changed in regards to how long it takes to become a citizen, it all depends on the situation. I have been married for 3 year to my u.s wife now and i have just applied for citizenship, it costs $330 to file then there will be a $70 fingerprint fee.
If you go to http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm (that is the goverments immigration homepage) you can find out all of this information by clicking on the ''how do i link''
If you have been married 3 years (as i have) then you can apply for citizenship, if you are just in the country as a worker or as a student it is 5 years before you can apply for citizenship. email me brett_day2002@yahoo.com and i can walk you through the process. I have been through it and am about to be a citizen so i will be more than happy to help you!

depends where the person is:
a) if the person is legally in the US, he/she needs to change the status to be a lawfull resident, which is automatic once you file
b) if the person is outside the US, you need to get a K3 visa (Spouse visa), which takes between 2 weeks and 6 months. Then the temporary green card comes in the mail, about one more month. After 2 years of marriage he/she will get the pemanent green card.
In both cases, you have to be a resident for 5 years in order to be able to apply for the citizenship.

It depends on the state that you are filing in. If you need information you can go to uscis or www.emichoice.com for assistance. You also have to apply before you will receive a green card. After you received your green card, then you can apply for citizenship, which is about 5 years, you can apply 90 days early. I hope I was helpful.

A person gets the greencard as soon as they marry a US citizen. The only condition is that he/she has to live with their partner for at least 3 years.
