The common onion comes in five colors: yellow, red, purple (Bermuda), white and pink (1, 2). What most people think of as the green onion is actually not a true variety of the common onion, Allium cepa, but is actually a bulb-less relative called the Welsh onion or Allium fistulosum (3).

There are 5 colors of onions, White, Yellow, Red, Purple and Green. The Red onion looks brown in color. There is a White Onion grown in Georgia, called a Vidalia. You can eat them just like a peace of fruit. They have no strong onion smell and are sweet, one of the best onions I have ever eaten. They can be mail ordered in gift boxes. Try one I'm sure you well like it, if you like onions.
