north korea isn't really much of a threat i think, they have often saber rattled, and perhaps the biggest "recent" mistake was calling them part of the axis of evil, since that seems to be what got them into their latest uproar over these past years.
are we wasting resources -yes indeed...i have often wondered if perhaps this wasn't bin laden's plan in the long run. knowing that he couldn't beat the US in a stand up one to one fight, so draw us into a long drawn out fight where we would essentially out spend ourselves. not that iraq had a connection or anything to do with 911, so this might even be turning out to be better than he expected. so a sort of "loose the fighting war, bankrupt the enemy by loosing" strategy.

N.Korea is no threat. They can't hit the side of a buiding if they tried. They are all talk and wind just like Saddam was.
Are we wasting our resources in Iraq? Yes.
Plus you figure we are in Afganistan as well. Plus Iran has started stuff here and there.
The actual threat we have over there is China. They are a super power that already has an army larger than ours and has a population that almost doubles ours. Not to mention they get millions upon millions of our dollars cause Americans are so greedy they just have to save that 60 cents and go buy everything from Wal-Mart....the China Warehouse.
China borders just about all of these countries and I would find it hard not to believe that China has a hand in it all. I would say they have their neighbors causing problems to see what our response will be, to see what we do with our military. Not to mention to spread our army thin and to depleat our resources along with wearing out the publics image of war.
Then add in the fact that China has gone on a mission to be the best computer programers on the planet. Well if you are the best that means you can hack any other system. If you hack our GPS system you make our military blind, you make your missles and bombs blind, you make our missle border security blind as well.
At that point you can just about walk into the USA with little resistance. Specially if you hack the power grid and knock it out as well. No phones, no power, no gas, no cells, no internet, no heat, no cold, no fridges, no food. In one week we would be at mass hysteria and just about defenseless.
We all think we are big, mighty and strong when in reality we are balanced on a flag pole begging to be knocked off.
We are also so dumb we are funding our own destruction by the greed of material items we all consume. We are funding the army that will one day defeat us.

WARS FORCE ARMY COST TO TRIPLE
Mon Jun 26, 7:57 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The annual cost of replacing, repairing and upgrading Army equipment in Iraq and Afghanistan is expected to more than triple next year to more than $17 billion, according to Army documents obtained by the Associated Press.
From 2002 to 2006, the Army spent an average of $4 billion a year in annual equipment costs. But as the war takes a harder toll on the military, that number is projected to balloon to more than $12 billion for the federal budget year that starts next Oct. 1

As Fort Sam Houston finished celebrating the Army's 231st birthday on Wednesday, soldiers faced the possibility of needing candles for more than just a cake.
In a notably embarrassing moment for one of the nation's oldest and most historic posts, Fort Sam has received 1,300 CPS Energy service termination notices. It's three months behind, with the last bill paid in March.

Take a look at how old that stuff is. The Iraq war is a blessing because it is wearing out the old stuff and allowing us to replace it with new stuff.
Do you really think that we would have replaced _anything_ if it was not for the Iraq war?
