well i guess that was your first mistake. read your question, you 'worshipped the ground he walked on' and he didn't care for you enough to stick aroundl, doesn't that seem a little off to you? be more careful next time, don't invest more of yourself than you have to lose and don't worship the ground anyone walks on without something in return. how to get over it, quit dwelling on it, look ahead not backwards, thats gone and can't be changed. do things to keep busy even if you don't feel like it. do things you like and go find another guy, but don't worship him, just have fun.

A year? Depends how good you are at letting go of old memories. Just make sure you don't involve yourself in another relationship before you are ready, that is pushing problems ahead I think.

I think it depends. I had the same problem as you over a guy and i'm over the fact that he left me but I still think about him and it has been 6 months. Only time will tell.

For me it took a good year and a half - but then I married on rebound big mistake. So really it took me a good three years to actually stop thinking about him or blaming him for my mishaps.
