Try Tempura battered/fried ice cream... it is awesome and available at Japanese/Sushi restaurants. Best served with whipped cream.
The concept is to fry it just long enough to cook the batter and not melt the contents.
Get some and Enjoy!

Tried that for the first time very recently. The first spoonful didn't taste that great--but after a couple, I just loved it! The kind of fried ice cream I had contained chocolate and cherries--my favorites.

What's the question? Is it good? Yes!
How do you make it? Scoop out two good sized scoops of vanilla or cinnamon ice cream. Roll them in to balls and wrap in plastic wrap. Re-freeze of 10 minutes. Mix together toasted coconut, rice flour, puffed rice cereal (like Rice crispies) a pinch or two of cinnamon. Roll the ice cream balls in the mixture and coat well. Cover with plastic again and freeze for 30 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil and slowly add ice cream balls with a slotted spoon. Fry until golden and serve immediately with caramel and chocolate sauces topped with whipped cream.

It's very good.Take a well frozen ice cream sandwich and dip it into pancake batter.Use 7-up in place of the water for the batter(makes it sweeter).Fry in 350 degree oil until lightly browned.

Fried Mexican Ice Cream
Yield: 4
1 pt Vanilla ice cream or other flavor
1/2 c Crushed cornflakes or cookie crumbs
1 tb Ground cinnamon
2 ts Sugar
1 Egg
Oil for deep frying
Honey
Whipped cream
Scoop out 4 to 5 balls of ice cream. Return to freezer. Mix cornflakes crumbs, cinnamon and sugar. Roll frozen ice cream balls in half of crumb mixture and freeze again. Beat egg and dip coated balls in egg, then roll again in remaining crumbs. Freeze until ready to use. (For thicker coating, repeat dipping in egg and rolling in crumbs.) When ready to serve, heat oil to 350F. Place 1 frozen ice cream ball in fryer basket or on perforated spoon and lower into hot oil 1 minute. Immediately remove and place in dessert dish. Drizzle with honey and top with dollop of whipped cream. Continue to fry balls one at a time. Balls will be crunchy on outside and just beginning to melt inside.
Makes 4 to 5 servings
