It seems particularly tough for my Gateway 56 " DLP TV, but the other brands don't seem much better.

For the Gateway you can also use the light bulb from Vizio RP56 or the GEM GDT-56DRP., all three are the same custom manufacture by Delta Electronics Co. Ltd.

Gateway is a third party manufacturer, meaning someone else built that product. All DLP / LCD projection lamps are super expensive, ranging from $250. and up.
If you can't get ahold of Gateway and have them tell you where to get a replacement lamp, then contact a local reputable TV shop.

The high pressure arc lamps are expensive. The replacement lamp for my Sharp DLP projector lists at almost $600, although I was able to find one for $400.
