I was discharged from the US Army in 1975 and have since lost my discharge papers and I am inneed of getting a copy,

DD214s are NOT filed at the courthouse unless YOU filed a copy yourself. This is no longer recommended unless you are allowed to redact your service number (SSAN) for privacy and security reasons.

If all else fails ... call... or ...go to an American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars post in your area... any member or officer of either organization should be able to guide you

it should be on file with the court house in the place of your residency at the time you were discharged.

if not, i would contact the VA and they will lead you in the right direction.
