There is so much hate and discrimination in the world. One side hates the other because they don't agree 100%, the other lashes out in retaliation, and eventually everyone's unhappy. Many Christians tend to believe that theirs is the ONLY opinion that matters or is correct, and many nonreligious people tend to generalize, and believe that all Christians are judgemental. There are so many wars forged because of a belief- shouldn't we be able to accept another person as a human being first, and then make up our mind about them through getting to know them?
And am I overly idealistic, or what?;-)

Yes we need to learn acceptance.
There are so many differences in the world that you can't live ignorantly anymore with out be an outcast.
When it comes to religions; Every religion believes that if you are not apart of them that you are going to hell. SO guess what: We all are going to hell by someone else's standards!
There is only one GOD and by what ever name you call him, he's God none the less.
Sadly races are always going to hate each other. Blacks are going to hate whites because of slavery and the fact that whites seem to want to be superior to everyone else. Whites hate blacks for wanting equality or thinking that they can ever be "equal" to them. Then everyone else hates because of what they think.
Acceptance is very important, so it's not just you...

Without people like you, there is no chance the world will become a better place.
Keep respecting/accepting others. Don't get down by all the judgmental Christians/Muslims/Atheists out there. Remember that there are many like you who are trying to bring people together.
As Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers..."

I do think that we should; but let's face the facts: it isn't going to happen.
The problem is that many of the stereotypes are true. Many Christians do believe that their opinion is most important, and many of them are judgemental. Just look at many of the other threads in this forum, and you'll see what I mean.

I think it's a wonderful idea. I've heard soldiers say that it's far harder to shoot a man when you look him in the eye, cause you can see that he or she is just another person doing a job, just like you. I'm afraid it is rather idealistic for us to think this way, but it's a wonderful idea.

I think we should all learn acceptance, yes, but from the looks of the question it seems like you're asking if we could (if it was truly possible).

yes.
and I practice it.
as does my church.
we believe in welcoming all seekers.
we don't give half a damn about anything about you (well within limits, e.g. persons trying to kill other persons = no!). you're welcome.
universal acceptance is a major part of all judaic relegions. the acceptance of all persons regardless of anything is a basic part of islam as well.

yep, we all need more acceptance and less criticism. Better to know someone than to judge prematurely and show yourself to be ignorant.
