Love 'em. Especially when lightly cooked with a little garlic butter added afterwards. I think that the only reason most people don't like them is because in the past they always tended to be overcooked which takes away all the flavour and reduces them to an inedible, unappetising mush. Yuk! :( The best way to cook them is to do them in a steamer for about 10 minutes or so. Al dente is the key word. much more taste to them then. Yum! :)

Depends how they're cooked. The only way to do them is to drop them in boiling salted water for no more than 4 minutes. Then they are sweet and crunchy. If you allow them to go soft they generate a chemical reaction that gives you the evil smelling, foul mess that is usually served. I love the former but hate the latter.

Used to hate them until I tried this. Split them into halves sand saute with some sliced sweet onions in a little olive oil ( add a little bacon or ham to the pan as well if you like). After they are starting to brown add some chicken stock (broth) and let it simmer for 5 minutes. They end up tasting nothing like the old steamed or boiled ones I used to roll under the table as a kid.

My mom used to say "eat your veggies young man". I don't like it that much but since I love my mom and she knows what is good for me, so I ate them. My answer is both, I love 'em because of mom and I hate 'em because I'm not really into vegetables.
