You have them too. You have to use the lice shampoo and wash everything with the anti-lice soap. Its not easy, they'll come back if you aren't thorough.

First of all don't be ashamed. Lice only attack clean heads and hair. Either get a good brand shampoo that is specifically for getting rid on the lice, together with a fine comb or visit the doctor for advice. Personally I would go with the latter purely because of the bleeding scalp. Alternatively ask the Pharmacist for his recommendation.

More common than people credit...infestations are a natural incident of adolescence and should be treated as such. Most cases of infestation can be accurately diagnosed and treated with over the counter medication (RID, etc) and preventative measures (wash bedding, treat other household members, notify day care/school). You mentioned bleeding. This is a secondary change to the scalp from vigorous scratching (not really from the lice) and anti-pruritic (atarax, diphenhydramine, etc) medication might help alleviate the itch. Keep an eye on secondary infection if scalp changes do not heal promptly and notify your physician. Good luck!

I had a similar problem with my child a few months ago. I tried several types; the shampoos not only did nothing, but also caused further iritation.
I found and electronic comb for lice removal. It was a bit more pricey, but considering the amount I'd already spent in vain...
I followed the instructions and that took care of the problem.
Hope I could help! :^>

Any type of lice shampoos will help this . . you need to treat everyone in the family, too. This will mean inspecting everyone's scalp for adult lice and eggs attached to the hair . . . all bedding needs to be stripped and cleaned daily in hot water and dried in a hot dryer daily including the pillows . . . stuffed animals from the child's room need to be put in a garbage bad and tied off - leave them in there for at least two weeks . . . you can also purchase a spray for your furniture and beds . . . spray your car too . . . initially wash the hair and comb out all the nits with the comb you will receive with the shampoo (this is a tedious task and depending on hair thickness could take hours) . . . you will retreat with the shampoo in seven/ten days . . . check head daily for any adult lice . . .

Here is a link to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and their advice on the right treatment for head lice.

Lice exist as lice insects and unhatched eggs or nits. You have to remove both the lice and the nits from the hair and scalp.

The nits glue themselves onto the hair shafts so they have to be removed with a special comb. The lice medicine only kills live lice.

It is important to follow all the directions for de-lousing completely.

Yuck! How did it get so out of hand? You need to get a lice treatment from the drug store and comb the eggs out. It will take a while to remove all the eggs but you have to do it.

Shampoo her with lice shampoo and clean all of her bedding with hot water, detergent and bleach. Dry it in a hot dryer. Spray her mattress and carpet(whatever you can't wash) with insecticide designed to kill lice. And repeat this procedure in a week. In between comb her hair with a lice comb to remove the nits(eggs)

You can walk into any drug store and buy something off the shelf, I know Rid makes shampoo for crabs, but I think their main product is for head lice. You can get stronger stuff if you see a doctor or clinic, but Rid usually works if you shampoo often enough like directed on the bottle.
