Beta is a test version. It is supplied to people to test it and report back any problems. There is no support offered for beta versions, so, unless you are an experienced user, I wouldn't recommend using it. When? Office is expected to be released by October, but it may get delayed. In the mean time Office XP is still available. Vista isn't expected until at least next year. Be patient, and don't steal.

microsoft has released now a trial version called beta,, a beta thing in any released program is a trial version and may still contains some defects and may lead to some problems on your computer,, so Only expert people can use the bets program whatever is it,,, as regard vista beta 2 ,, It works only as a clean install,, i.e. can not work with any other operating system and you can get it free from their site if you have DSL band,, u can download it,, IT is 3.2 giga and must be burn on DVD,,and u can use it up till 2/2007 only and after that it will not run and will stop and u have to buy the final release,,,
If u are not expert,,, leave it and wait,, I think its price at final release will be about 150-200 $

"Beta" means the software is out in a version that is for testing purposes only. It may not work right, or it may wipe out your whole system. Personally, I don't approve of companies releasing beta versions to the general public; they should develop a network of testers who agree to the risks and know what to do if there is a problem.
Don't get either Office or Vista illegally. Microsoft won't help you when any bugs (and there *are* more likely to be bugs in pirated versions, for a lot of reasons) crop up, they could sue you or even have you arrested, and it's just not worth it.

Beta means "test version"
A beta version is normally released prior to the normal software. Companies do this to test the software among a few before releasing it to the masses.
They do this to test for bugs, errors, script code errors, etc.
Unless you like to be a test Guinea pig I would steer clear of beta versions. Plus they are normally for the more advanced computer user as they at times need special preferences or options chosen.

Beta is a general test product. It is probably NOT ready for prime time. Check Open Office. It IS ready for prime time!
Gotta love Open Source!!!

From what some have been saying, Vista may or may not be worth all the hype. It is supposed to be very visually pleasing, but at far as actual functionality, you can get most of its new features right now buy downloading free utilties from download.com or PC-World.com. I have a bunch of them myself.

Beta is simple; it is another name for something that is loaded with bugs and problems and will screw up your system if you install it. Stay away from Beta; been there; done that.
