I have heard several plans, but all of them seem to involve some form of rewarding illegals for their entry into this country. I wish for answers that would resolve this issue while ensuring that those who do commit this crime are punished, not rewarded.

Well, first step on an enforcement approach is going to be impeding people from moving as freely into our country as they would like. In the case of Mexico, that means an impassable barrier, the border fence that's in the news, so people can't just wander in at will. A second component of enforcement is deportation, physically removing persons in our country that are
in the US illegally. Get em out. Not just mexican citizens, citizens of any country that have either overstayed their visas, or otherwise tried to finagle their way past the law, be it fake ID, whatever, get this cleared up. Third is a more extensive approach, working with all 50 states to ensure that there's good legislation that clears up any ambiguities that might exist on whether or not a company or a private party can employ someone, or whether our schools can accept someone as a student. Get that nailed down, and you'll have a humane, effective, and comprehensive approach on dealing with illegal immigration. This isn't 1910, it's 2006, and the reason things are so different barely a century later is that there are now 6.4 BILLION people in the world, that's what, a 500% increase, not sure, ask your local statistician, but suffice it to say it's a LOT.
Right now, the US has a population of some 300 million. HOW crowded do you want the country to get, do you like not having to wait an HOUR to get into someplace?

Population growth is all good and fine, as long as it takes place at a slow, measured pace. Right now, schools are overcrowded, road congestion's going UP, taxes are going UP, prices are going UP, and it stands to reason that the infrastructure that supports 300 million poorly, right now, will not support 400 million, the projected population for the United States in as little as 30-40 years, within our lifetimes. To support an additional 100 million people the US will have to GROW like a mad dog,
so you'll start seeing trees mowed down in wide swaths, new roads and developments going in all over the place, and livability in your community's likely to drop like a ROCK. I mean, it's your vote, your voice, do as you like, but runaway growth has already proven a Big Challenge for countries like China, India's expected to add another 600 million before long, of course they're already at 1 billion, China's at 1.3, but fun stuff like famines and wars and stuff are MORE likely among people who are tight on resources.

I'm no sociologist, but I don't like what I've read in the news. Given, the news is not an all-encompassing source of information, nonetheless it does tend to give some indication
of what might lie around the next corner, and when you start reading about what's happened in some other countries, I think we'd just as soon NOT see it happen in the United States.

Ever read about the Dust Bowl? Great Depression? It's a worthy read...tell your local pro-growth politician to put DOWN the crack-pipe, and slowly back away...

unlawful foreigners are dealt with an same in Mexico and Canada as interior the united states of a. detention center, ten deportation. BTW- in case you abandon your citizenship, and then bypass borders illegally, you'll truly be fooked. Stateless people do not have any rights. Why not in simple terms legally observe for a visa a bypass someplace? Why do you want to be a criminal? Is it even allowed to ask about committing crimes on the following?

I don't believe it is a question of rewarding, it is rather a question of normalizing immigrants and recognizing people who have worked hard and contributed to our society.
It is unfair and inaccurate to portray these immigrants as being leaches living off of the United States' generosity. As a matter of fact most of these immigrants have contributed much more to America than they have gotten in return.
If we do legalize those immigrants who have lived and worked here for years, it will give us an opportunity to review their cases and weed out the few who are "trouble makers".

That may depend on the illegal's behavior and usefulness for society. I agree that no country can accept migrants at whichever cost and forever, there is a limit. But, of course, illegal migrants should be treated humanely. I'm not American, anyway, why am I saying anything?

the best way do deal with it is to first search for the ones that are here and deport or execute them.they wouldnt be sneaking over if they knew the penalty was death.need to beef up the border patrol and gun them down as they run across.i know it sounds harsh but it needs to be done.the government is already giving away this country.look in any store or gas station in this country.and you will find an arab.the people who want us dead are taking control of our countrys fues supply.leagle or otherwise, all arabs should be deported or risk execution.yes i know this country was founded by imigrants but we are freanin FULL!!theres not enough jobs or welfare to support the people who were born here, its got to stop somewhere!!!

Seriously close down the borders and start deporting. We have a process to come here legally for reasons, if you come here bypassing that system then you should not be allowed to ever become a citizen. Sounds harsh I know, but we have got to know who is coming into our country.

Well actually, detention centers are not a bad idea ... it works to a certain degree in at least some European countries ... round them up, take them to the center, figure out who's who ... and send them back to their country of origin ... bound to be cheaper than keeping them here indefinitely while we're scratching our heads wondering what to do ....

Its really simple. Round them up and PUT THEM IN PRISON. That will stop them from coming over. Then, let them volunteer to work for 50 cents per hour. Hire them out for maybe 4 dollars per hour. The prison system could be privatized, private companies would make money on it.

Also, put employers that hire them IN JAIL.

Watch towers with automatic machine guns at the borders, designed to only wound illegal boarder crossers allowing them to limp back home to tell their friends about the crazy Americans..
