She recently, when taken out to relieve herself, does so while continuing to walk down the road. She doesn't go find her usual area in the grass for her BM, but just continues to walk along with my husband, and moves her bowels as she walks. It's as if she doesn't even realize she is doing so. The BMs are normal and she isn't acting ill. She is eating normally. What is up?

We recently returned from vacation, during which she was boarded. She got home from the kennel and soon pooped on the kitchen floor. I assumed she was mad at us, but then the above behaviour has been occurring for the last several days. So I'm starting to think she is either having bowel issues/incontinence or she is demented in her old age.

Yep she is just getting old, some dogs do that throughout their lives. I wouldn't get too concerned about it, but if you're really worried you can call and ask your vet about it. She might possibly not have full control over her bowels.

I've had many dogs and i don't think that is out of the ordinary behaviour. You have to remember that dogs don't think like we do, your dog going potty and walking at the same time may just be her idea of canine "Multi-tasking", lol. She smells something else good on the ground and is following THAT while she's "Making". Dogs have to find a smell in the grass that triggers their bowels sometimes , and she simply may find nothing worthwhile in her old area. I wouldn't be too worried about this , but you can always call a vet, they will usually tell you something over a quick phone call.

I'd say no.
If she dose it in the house then yes but, she holds it.
Take her to the vet anyway even if for a checkup.
Maybe she has decided she has pooped the same way long enough and it is time for a change.

You should take her to the vet to see what's going on with her. Labs are famous for becoming a little crazy when they get older...my yellow lab is ten and she's already starting to seem senile. Good luck with her.

Sounds like incontinence. It would be a good idea to talk to your vet.
