Electrical casading system implimented in transmission & utility with connecting various power grid like ring main with proper protection, without effecting the grid failure because of fault in certain feeder to avoid total black out (for uniteruupted power delevery in all the feeders).

Electrical Cascade system is nothing but the sequential operation of outgoing feeders during trip & Re-closing situations. the main advantage of cascade system is limiting the fault current & Protect the equipment. This system mostly using in radial power distribution sytstems

generally speaking cascading utilises components of varying trip characteristics to minimise inconvenience. eg. first breaker 100A trip current and 100mA earth leakage trip. second breaker may have lower trip ratings. this means that a fault downline will trip the nearest breaker instead of the one at the main board. this would be rather inconvenient if main board was a large distance from fault. some installations have numerous sub boards feeding other sub boards. would be areal bugger having to go check and possibly reset every breaker in the line.
