Take the battery out and leave it out over night. try to turn on the camera several times (without the battery). What this does is attempts to drain the capasitors of stored energy (kind of like turning off your computer if it freezes up!). In the morning put battery back in and see if it "forgets" the error and operates normaly. IF it still has the error then either take it in for service (figure $80-$150 repair) or replace with new camera.

You could take the camera back to the store that you purchased it from for repair.
