Double check with your eye doctor but there shouldn't be any problem because of your age as long as you take care of them correctly. I've had mine since I was 15 because I play a lot of sports and I can't imagine going back to glasses full time. It's rare that doctors prescribe hard contacts anymore since soft ones have become so advanced. When the doc tells you what brand you can wear, make sure you get the prices of monthlies, weeklies & dailies and get the best you can afford. The more often you change them, the better they are for your eyes. I would stay away from the ones you wear overnight. I've had 4 different eye docs and they all said that those are bad in the long run. And yes, your look will change (probably dramatically) without them but you will get used to it. You may have to wear makeup differently and make sure you get a good mascara if you wear it- it really hurts if it flakes off into your eye! 1 other tip- it's MUCH cheaper to go through 1-800-contacts or VisionDirect. Your doc may charge you to give you a prescription if you're not ordering through him/her but it will usually still be cheaper and most insurances will reimburse you. Good luck!

I started wearing contact lenses at age 15 myself. I'm almost 17 now and I haven't suffered from any complications. So I guess it's safe... at least my doctor didn't complain. BUT you must always take good care of your contacts and keep them clean. Otherwise, you may develop serious eye infections.

About the look thing... I don't really know. Everyone told me that I changed a lot when I switched to lenses. With some people it's for the better, for some it's for the worse. Just make sure you give people time to adjust to your new look before you ask them how they think you look.

contacts are safe to wear at 15, I started wearing them at age 10. You will look a little different at first, because you won't have the glasses frames, but people will become accustomed to you wearing contacts. Soft contacts are safe to wear, and easy to take care of. Talk to your eye doctor, he will give you all the information you need and help you make the decision that is best for you.

Most people look better without glasses. I bet you do too! Well, I definitely look better. With Contacts use just place the lens in your eye. With glasses you just have this ugly thing placed on your forehead. Unless you look good with em'. Everyone will get used to your new look without contacts. Don't worry. Contacts are safe to wear but they require plenty of care. Make sure you clean them daily woth solution. (Remember to get your power) and don't rub your eyes because they will fall out. I suggest you get a clear contact lens pair because if you said you look a bit awkward without glasses then how would you look with a different colored pupil!!! Overall, contacts are safe to wear if you keep em' clean and take proper care of em'. Keep in mind, If you look better in glasses wear them. You don't have to switch. Get other people's opinions of which looks better. Hope my answer helps!!!

Ps: I know I gave you more answers than I should of!!! Sorry!

my friend started wearing contacts when she was in 8th grade and i've started wearing contacts now and i'm 16. yes sofcontact lenses are safe to use...i use them..my optomotrist said it'd be okay if i wore them...sof contact lenses are bendable and roll and are MUCH easier to put in your eye than hard contact lenses that dont' bend at all.
my mom says my image has changed since i dont' wear my glasses very often and she's been used to me wearing glasses....i still wear them sometimes to give my eyes a break you know when i've been wearing my contacts all day, but i've noticed that when i do put my glasses back on, i look different. one time, i was cleaning my contacts and all that stuff and then i go to put my glasses on and i looked in the mirror and was like, "OMG! who is that!" but it was just me...
you just get used to how you look without glasses...i felt kind of weird at first wearing my contacts because i wasn't wearing my glasses...and i had always been used to them, but now i LOVe wearing my contacts. and i'm sure that when u get contacts, you'll love them too.

Yes. It is safe. But you must be responsible enough to take those out before going to sleep or your eyes can be damaged. Also, a lot of my friends who have contact lenses experienced eye irritation sometimes, that their eyes dont feel to have those lenses anymore. They ended up wearing glasses again. Its cool to wear glasses.

Contact lenses can be worn by children as young as 8.

Your look will not change - you will havethe same look as without glasses.

Soft lenses are safe. The problem is that you must take proper care of them. If they are disposable lenses, you must dispose of them when their time is up, as soft lenses can cause bacteria to build up. This can result in infections

There should be no problem if you decide to wear contact lenses. Anyway go to your eye doctor and get their opinion. As with your looks. Does it really matter what anyone else thinks? Just do whatever you want to!
