She has to sign the title, in front of a notary in most states, and then you can trade it. Some dealers may still require her to be there if there are any other documents to be signed, so she should probably be there. You should probably ask the dealer what they require beforehand so it goes smoothly.

Your mom has to sign off her registration of the vehicle and hand the title to your name. Depending on where you are, you may require to pay tax on the value of the car that you need to trade in. Perhaps have your mother declare the car as a 'gift' so to avoid that situation. Check your Department of Transportation for details. Hope this helps.

No, you do not ought to move the automobile into your call in the previous trading it in. You do, on the different hand, must have your mum and dad bypass right down to the dealership and signal the identify over to the dealership purely as if they were those trading it in for a clean automobile. in the adventure that they don't look accessible to do this, they could signal the identify and the identify move place of work artwork into the broking service's call and characteristic it notarized. the in ordinary words difficulty can be a tax one because it must be as if they were giving you funds (the automobile's cost) as a present. this can no longer be a large deal except the commerce-in automobile is definitely worth multiple funds. you ought to be sure for your self what the present tax decrease is.

she should probably come with you just on principle... if she bought it for you to drive, then you can trade it in together. if its something you bought, i'm pretty sure just signing over the title is fine... and, at least in connecticut, she can actually transfer the registration directly to you (only works for immediate family) so that will save on fees for a new one

Easiest way if you're not going to hang on to it is to have her go with you to the dealer and sign it over to them. If you were going to keep it for a while, she could sign it over to you, but then you would have to go to the DMV to get the title redone in your name.

Either way. But your mom does have to be involved. Either she has to sign it over to you, or she comes with and signs it over to the dealer.
