I have read that people applying for immigration into Canada must undergo a medical test...anyone know what medical conditions would disqualify them from being granted immigration? A disabilty? AIDS or stds? Smokers? Other illnesses? What is considered serious and what is not a factor? Does anyone know the facts?

Who is petitioning you?? i think it depends.
see below: I also include the Canadian immigration site on the source list just click it!
Answer:The up-front medical examination process is only available to spouses, common-law partners and dependent children. If any other members of the Family Class (i.e., parents, grandparents) use the up-front medical examination process, the medical results will not be valid and the examination will have to be redone

probably it's all the same. You need to be tested for communicable diseases.

1. Tb--if they found out you have TB then you have to go under taking pills and stuff depends on how serious it is. But usually they will let you in after you've been cured.

2. HIV -- depends. that's kinda weird they would deny you for that.
that's' discrimination. but hey it's they re country so who
knows. you need to call them for that.
3. Smoker?? --c'mon now! they wont deny u for that there's
bunch of smokers everywhere!
4. disability---they wont deny u for that! they even allow same
sex petition fiancee/marriage ( a guy petitioning his boyfriend/his whatever hey call it male-wife or husband!)

Good luck!!!

Yes they do have to, depending on which paper work you are doing.

this is a medical form for a sponsor application from within Canada. Just to give you an idea of what it looks like. Doesn't give you specifics but if you are deemed to put a stress on the health system they may delay your application.

Looked all over the Canadian Immigration web site but can't find it. Best to call the nearest embassy, consulate or high commission and just ask.

Don't know the facts for Canada, but here you can't be HIV, have TB or any other communicable disease ... I think you'll find it's more or less the same for Canada ....
