First off, you are obviously young, or at the very least do not know what slander means, first, you did not slander anyone.....especially him.......if you say you know someone, it is not slander......if you say that someone is a thief and rapist, then that is slander.....WHY is it none of the answers here are saying it is not slander, because she told her mate, and she/he is suing, not the famous person.....the main reason this is not slander is because he/she can't sue for something said about the famous person

In this particular context, from what you've said, it sounds like your famous friend is just messing with you.

However, in the event of slander, libel, and other cases of defamation of character, the truth defence is a perfectly valid defence. It's not defamation if it's true. However, someone is still free to sue you and claim defamation, which could cost you a lot of money even if you win. If that happens, you should go to court prepared to prove what you said was true. Of course, speak to an attorney. Oftentimes, even if what you said was true, there's a better defence, and an attorney could help you determine that.

You really need to be careful, what you say, about another person, even if it is true, the person you are slandering, may not see it that way. A person can take you to court, over something like that. The person may, or may not win the case, but i'm sure the person you are slandering, would feel vindicated by embarrassing you, like you embarrassed them and they will try to make you look like a liar and a gossiper and that could come back to haunt you, if people see you that way, they won't trust you, It's called "Defamation of Character"!

Only the person who`s being slandered can sue you not your mate - and then the term slander only applies if the famous guy has a better lawyer than you LOL.

If the statement was True, it is NOT SLANDER. Look up SLANDER in a Legal Dictionary or on a Legal Website. Law.com may be a good place to look.

Its slander if it is untrue. If he takes you to court and you can prove otherwise (on the balance of probabilities, which is the standard of proof for civil courts) then he will lose the case. If not, you will be in a lot of trouble.

No it is fact if it's true. However, you can still be sued even if it's true, and is still damaging. It doens't mean the suer will win, but damage is damage...even if it's true..
