Make sure they eat a good breakfast, medium lunch, small to medium dinner, and get good sleep. Also try purchasing junk food and making more healthful meals. Eventually kids will like the taste. I should know, I'm 13. I just lost 80 pounds, too. I changed cheese curls to carrots and got a tad more active.

Children today have too many tools that keep them from moving. Just think about it....video games, TV has access to almost anything they would want, the internet.....there is no physical activity anymore. By getting them to participate in sports, or even if they are not athletically inclined, invest in a treadmill, or purchase a gym membership, or just get walking with them outside...all of these things can help get them moving. What happens is....kids have always loved to eat goodies, and parents never want to deny them. But in the past, they had the opportunity to burn off the excess calories of the goodies by moving around more. Kids still eat the same now, but move around a lot less.

It's up to the parents to enforce physical activity. That, plus a balanced diet can help eradicate obesity in this upcoming generation.

If it isn't genetically based it is caused by parents and caretakers.
Children should not be able to drink unlimited amounts of juice. Parently do no realize juice has so much sugar in it. Pop and juice are a no-no for children. Also, fast food, fried foods, etc should not be in a child's diet. If at all possible children should engage in play outside and in physical play. Sitting in front of the tv or video games also contributes. So I guess the goal is better education and reeducation for parents as to the problems and risks associated with childhood obesity.

parents are to blame for child obesity,instead of giving children chocolate and sweets they should be given fruit.
they should also make sure there children get exercise,if only alittle everyday,it helps.parents with obese children are bad parents-its as simple as that.although this statement isint true if the child has a eating disorder or some desease which causes obesity.this may sound harsh but

Stop feeding them junk food!! It is true that some people are simply prone to obesity because of a caveman type gene that causes them to store fat constantly rather than burn it, but due to that some people just have to excercise more. That means kids to. There is a great book you can read to help you understand what to eat called Eating Well for Optimum Health by Dr. Weil.

model a healthy active balanced lifestyle and good eating habits; don't have junk food in the house; unplug and find fun activities that they enjoy - running around at the park, biking, kayaking, basketball, frisbee, chasing the dog, hiking, charity walks/runs, adventure hunts....your excitement about doing active things will be infectious....teach them about different foods and their effects on the body, teach them how to cook something besides baking cookies (or find healthy cookie recipes)

try a healthy balanced diet , fruit, veg,juice with low or no sugar and dont let them snack alot of junk food and also try this healthy eating urself as the kid would follow on ur steps if your concerns are that bad seek help from a nutritionist at your local hospital.

Get rid of the playstation and limit the T.V. Stop sweets and junk food and get them outside to play.

get them into regular feeding times they will get used to the routine and will not snack, then you can keep control of what they are eating. it will stop them from feeling hungry all of the time if they know that they are expecting something to eat on their regular feeding times. it also gives you the upper hand in the situation.
