go to a rent to own place and get one or borrow from someone or credit card it or go to a pawnshop or craigslist.com and buy used.

Don't bother. All those sites wanting to "Give" you a free laptop, just want your marketing information, as well as your friends' and families'. After you provide them with it you'll be saturated with junk email from the surveys you took, not to mention the anger from your loved ones because you betrayed them by giving out info that simply wasn't yours to give out in the first place. So get off your duff, quit being typical of college/tech students everywhere by thinking poor little you should get a free-be just for doing what everyone else does that wants to better their pocketbooks and earn it! You'll be a stronger individual for doing so.

Dude, trust me, it is all a scam. Do you want to give away an expensive laptop (or tv or ipod) to a complete stranger? Then why would the people online do that?

Go borrow the money, and then pay it back.

Best way to live, dude.
