No, I think it is more likely that while we all fritter away our time talking about such things our government is doing all kinds of things we know nothing about. I am more guilty than many of spending too much time here - what I am saying is that not enough of us are spending time doing our jobs as patriots.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance - that is true. You go along and do your own thing, live and let live and the next thing you know, you look up and we are in a big international problem. How did this happen? None of us wanted this to happen - how did this happen?

Most elections in America are 40-60% voter turn out. That means that of all the people known through the census, only 40-60% of eligible voters are coming to the polls. It is shocking that people think Democracy is best - Government by the people for the people - but only half want to participate.

I think the government is thrilled to throw out religious issues in a political forum because it keeps us chattering with each other while they do whatever they want behind our backs. That will drag us into the Dark Ages once more - particularly if the Religious Right have their way.

Peace!

I think we are still in the Dark Ages, in fact darker than ever, Yes Christianity, "Jesusism" was a big force of darkness back in the middle ages. Unfortunately, due to the Bible-Belt in the southern USA, Christianity threatens to take over the government and impose a new rule of darkness on earth. That's why all forms of Christianity must be fought against.

Jesusism, hahahaha. He's a threat to darkness, but darkness has never had the power to dispel the Light. They just dream they do.

Carole makes a good point and I agree with her. But it's not necessarily the Dark Ages that the Jesusists / Christianists / godidiots are aiming for. I think they'd settle for a reversal of a century or two, back to some time before women had the right to vote and wear pants.

I think all religions slow down progress, but sometimes progress can move to fast and cause problems, hard to know what the balance is. We would be living in space right now if it were not for the dark ages, that lasted for a little over 800 years. Science was considered evil and the devils work, so it was outlawed for the longest time.

Jerusalem is the city of David and the future site for the throne of Christ in the millennium Kingdom. It will be a focal point in the great tribulation, but fighting over it will not return us to the dark ages. The term dark ages refers to that time in history when all learning and expansion of knowledge ceased---it had nothing to do with returning to a caveman lifestyle.

Yeah, I agree, what the hell is Jesusism? Is that something like catechism?

If you're talking Jesus, my friend, He's the one who brought us OUT of the dark ages, and He's the one who will prevent us from going into another.

Religion does nothing but foster ignorance by preventing people from thinking critically about things. If someone has a question about the universe and a church leader stifles their thoughts with "Well it's that way because God made it that way!" then any discussion about the topic has become meaningless. Thankfully, we have had people who aren't willing to settle for that kind of answer in the past and have strived to prove the church and other people wrong.

You mean christianity? christianity is a threat to everyone in america. They devour the uneducated and make them into ignorant pompous fools. The only way to stop them is a Pagan/Atheist revolution. sadly most of the atheists might think of Paganism as some sort of threat because most Pagans are polytheistic.

You mean the darkest age in history - the twentieth century - when secular ideologies almost destroyed the planet on three separate occasions?

The areligious have no business lecturing the religious - the enlightenment's "values" came to fruition, and its wars and genocides - from Stalin to Hitler - took more life than all previous wars put together.

No thanks. I'll stick to the relatively peaceful and less brutal realm of religion.
