Biscuithead:
My religion is not threatened by christians {as I am not in possession of one}, but my freedom is, that is why I speak out.

Wildflower:
Christians are responsible for good too, and not nearly all wrongs are commited by christians.
That is not what I was saying.

We are sorry you have been imprisoned by Christians. Do we take credit for our good? Many of us would consider that to be non-Christian. Do we ignore the evil done in the name of Christianity? Many of us feel that, while God punishes evil, he has a special penalty for those who do evil with his name on their lips.
If you would share the details of your imprisonment, I am sure many here would be willing to do what we can to help. I include myself.
By the way, the Crusades were WRONG.
The Inquisition was WRONG
Protesting at the funerals of Iraq War Vets is WRONG
Most of us neither have nor would have had anything to do with any of these. And we are willing to raise our voices against those who disagree. I just have.

If christians are claiming good deeds done by them then, they are essentially glorifying themselves and not God. God places situations before christians to build their faith and then build perseverence.
God tests christians on a daily basis and to glorify man is not what God intended.
The Holy Spirit within some of us leads us to do good works and we as believers must pray. Have you ever heard of meeting you half way? No? Okay, get this God wants us to pray to Him so that He can and will meet us in a place where He will do the work He needs to do.
Faith and Works - Faith is that work that God does and Work is the physical labor that a christian must perform.
Remember Faith without works is dead and works without faith is also dead.

Just because you are a Christian does not mean you follow all of God's rules and you are perfect. Everybody does wrong things, and sadly, hardly anybody owns up to them. Western Christians these days are becoming more and more like the rest of the world, and trying to blend in. What we should be doing is following the rules God gave us for good reasons, and then we will be brilliant stars in this darkened world.

What the heck are you talking about "ignoring?" You do realize John Paul spent what seemed like half his pontificate apologizing to people for historical wrongs?
I want to know why some people seem hell bent on trying to erect a mythology that Christians do no good in the world, when in fact they are invariably the ones building hospitals and digging wells in places the angels fear to tread - you certainly find no atheists in such places.

You only see the huge organizations not the every day Christian. I am a Christian and I see the awful things that are in this world. I see the mass slaughters going on in Iraq. I see the starvation in Africa. I do not go through my life with blinders on my eyes. I see the Christians that are being persecuted just for their belief. I see the poverty in the slums. I know their are children molested, injured, beaten, and killled daily in the USA. I pray continually for these and hope the Lord comes quickly and ends these things.

Trust God's word, he's not ignoring it. He is soon going to put it into the hearts of the kings of the earth to destroy Babylon the Great the world empire of false religion. Then everyone will know who the true followers of Christ Jesus are, the ones who have love amongst themselves and love their neighbors as themselves, who do not take up arms and are no part of the world. Who have God's name as his word says at Acts 15:14 God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name, and Isaiah 43:10 "You are my witnesses", is the utterance of Jehovah,"even my servant whom I have chosen". Even Jesus is called the Faithful and True Witness at Revelation 3:14. Hebrews chapter 10,11,12 talks about faithful men of old such as Abel,E'noch,Noah,Abraham,Sarah,Joseph, and Moses calling them a great cloud of witnesses at Hebrews 12:1. It seems obvious to those who minds are not blinded by the god of this system of things. No, we are not perfect, we make mistakes, but we make adjustments to keep up with the truth as it is being unfolded. The truth is like the dawn that with time is getting lighter, and the light shines forth ever brighter, God progressively teaches his people more and more truths as they are able to bear it.

We don't, or i don't and alot of christians i know don't, trust me if our view was lopsided then every thing would be perfect and we'd be less motivated to do more good,
a team from my church just came back from kabul, you can't ignore bad when you go to places like that.
mabe what you see is people being content and happy, and don't know how they can be smiling in a time like this, we're aware, we just have the joy of the lord in our hearts, well some of us.

The credit and praise should go to God Himself. He is good.
No one ignores the bad. But there is this thing called prayer. If you pray and have faith, everything will work out as it's supposed to. It isn't up to us to question why God allows certain things. And we don't need to understand them. God knows what He is doing with everything.

cuz for them lyk basically nothing is a wrong. for example, the crusades were fought in the name of god so it isnt bad but rather good. they happen to twist the truth in a way that is in their favor...but that isnt true of all christians. some christians believe that yes, they did wrong but that this was god's plan. the believe that all they did had a connection with a higher reality which they couldnt humanly reach, of which only god knows...

Why try to paint everyone with such a large brush, to ask the question like that is the same as, Why do blacks steal or why are mexicans so lazy, why not look to individuals for the fruits of their faith. you might find what you want to see.
