I usually check out Many web sites like travelocity.com, orbitz.com I also call many airline websites and call many travel agencies. I know it's a lot of work, but when you travel on budget it's the best thing to do to make sure you are not overpaying for a ticket.

I booked my tickets directly from delta.com. It was actually less expensive to get the tickets from them than it was to use a site like expedia.com.
