I know he died for my sins and all that jazz, but that was like 2,000 years ago...

He loves you - unconditionally.

Try to find that anywhere - even mothers can't do that. If you're a Christian, then go deeper and pray more, but more importantly take time to listen to Him.

You also have to remember, our reward as a Christian is not in this life, but in the next - the place Jesus has prepared for us when we pass from this world. It comes down to 'It's not about you, it's about Him'. When you focus your life on him and outwardly on others and helping others, you'll find that you can see the small miracles that happen everyday because of Him.

You have the opportunity in this life to live His word and bring love to those who desperately need it - the homeless, prostitutes, drug addicts. When you do this, you'll find that He does reward you as the love you give to them, will come back to you tenfold. He has assured us of this.

Too much has secular society focussed everything on the 'I' in life, whereby we forget that we are here to love one another. His Word lives today as much as it did 2,000 years ago and his two commandments were to love God with all your strength and all your might, his second was to love one another. Ask yourself this, what have I done to fulfill these two commandments?

When you take the time to really pray, think about his Passion, death and resurrection - he did it all for YOU. Think hard about it - watch 'The Passion' - and focus on it, pray afterward, and listen.

Pray the Our Father and concentrate on what each and every line means - picture it in your head.

Thy will be done, NOT my will be done.

Praise Jesus & may God bless you :)

Read the book friend; It says "he is the same today as he was yesterday" But then if you believed that you would be living by faith, which would mean you actually believed what was taught when it says "we live by faith, not by sight" Imagine that, what a concept!
I am sorry if that response seems somewhat cynical, but I urge you to read it again, and pray beforehand for some understanding! As for some of the other responses to your question, perhaps I have been led astray, and I die and thats the end, well, no loss, but if I am right and Jesus is the same guy today as yesterday, and everything he said was true, then it is to my benifit! I would far rather put my faith in Jesus, than in politicians, what a mess we would have then!
God Bless, Russ

Actually, I agree with you. I don't feel that he died for sins extending beyond his death. He may have been the son of God, but unlike the answerer who thinks he let's you breathe or live, um, that's not his function. That would be more in God's line of duties.

Don't question Jesus.

Question the validity of the idea of sin. Its just nonsense.

The idea can't hold up under any rational scrutiny.

People only believe it because they have been told it is real.

Think about it, why else would you need to believe it on faith or burn in hell.

Now if don't like it and you could less you have a likely chance of going to hell. Think really hard... Jesus did everything for you!

You woke up with a pulse this morning, didn't you? I suppose that would be a start. And if you look around, you will probably find that you have been blessed in innumerable ways.

"He himself existed before all things, and by him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17)

Well, He's not really there to "do for you." He gives you a Gift but He doesn't become your slave. He watches over you waiting for you to come to Him if you need Him. He's not like a mother hen, He's more like a Lion.
