My dad found him in the grass 2 hours from my house. He brought it home to me so we could take care of it, obviously he is lost, his owner either let him go or accidently did.. I got him yesterday and he still hasn't sang or anything, i dont want him to be sad.. Any idea how i can put him in a better playful mood?

Parakeets don't sing, as far as I know. I had one as a child and once while married. All mine ever did was talk (childhood). And screech (while married).

Your new found pet has no doubt been through an ordeal, and possibly some sort of shock as it is lost from his home, and was in the wild with the other birds. It is pure luck that he survived at all!Give your parakeet some time to adjust and acclimate to his/her new surroundings. Then in time the bird will come around and get playful and sing etc. BUT, you might try putting an add in the paper as it probably got lost by accident and the owner's might be "lost" without their pet birdie!! Believe me, I have lost a couple in my time. Due to my son when he was young, he deciced to open the cage door and out flew Petrie! Never did get him back. To this day I wonder what ever happend to him. If you can't find the previous owner's, then it looks like you have yourself a new pet. [the way you can tell if you have a male or female is the "cere", above the nose, if it is blue, it IS a male, brownish beak color, a female.] Iam guessing you have a Budgie? There really are alot of birds that fit in the parakeet family, just in case you didn't know. Anyway, I would definately offer the bird some premium bird seed, pellet diet, petamine, proteen 25, even some hard boiled eggs, fresh or frozen veggies and fruits. Not avacados, chocolate, persimmons, etc. The bird will only eat a little bit though, [if at all right away, so don't offer too much as they eat very little. Don't be surprised if the bird doesn't eat or drink for the first couple day's anyway. Just keep him away from ALOT of noise, and casually come to him and talk in a soothing manner. They really are more intellegent than alot of people think. BIrd Brains? Ok, I would take that as a compliment haha!! Good luck to You!!

ps, since the bird was out in the wild, you might want to get some mite and lice spray just in case? Or have him checked out at the vet which ofcourse is more costly, but more than likely, the bird is fine health wise. Pamper,Pamper,PAMPER!! :> CHIRP CHIRP, he will be waking you up singing around 8:30 or so. At least mine did, and do around this Bird house that I live in. :>

If you got him yesterday then if he can sing he probably won't do it for a while. It will probably take a while for him to trust you and get used to his new surroundings and if you found him outside in the grass then he probably has been through quite a bit and doesn't know what's going on. And it might be weird for him becuz he might of accidently flew away from the owner or something and he might miss his previous owner...

there is two motives, the two slightly appropriate. once you sleep after a meal your physique does not metabolise as without delay and hence shops many of the ability interior the nutrition as adversarial to utilising it. once you consume, you're designating your physique the job of digesting it and changing it. This makes use of up your physique's components, while it perchance must be doing different issues (which contain repairing tissue harm, and dreaming via REM sleep). There are even nonetheless conflicting scientific perspectives. Paul Chek case in point (homeopathic nutritionalist) believes that if your physique is suitable for protein/fat intake, it could generally assist you sleep better - even nonetheless in case you consume carbohydrates your physique would be over inspired and additionally you will awaken drained.
