Am I the only person that gets upset when the extremely overweight person is riding around in the "handicapped" motorized cart at Walmart?

Obesity can be handicapping. Knees may not function well due to the extra pressure. Spines too are not built to take the weight. The overweight person probably has a handicapped sticker on their car, authorized by a medical doctor for other handicapping conditions and not solely due to the obesity. Obese people do get heart attacks. There are many obese persons who do not need the handicapped cart and chose not to use it.

Remember, obesity is not due solely to what people eat. If fat people's bodies processed food the way skinny people's bodies do, they would have never gotten fat in the first place. I am not talking about "metabolism". I am talking about hyperinsulinemia - the precursor condition for diabetes type 2, hypoglycemia, in many cases obesity and other "conditions".

Why should it bother you? The handicapped cart is for people who have trouble walking, for whatever reason.

You seem to think that if someone is overweight, it is a personality flaw. Who made you the judge? Does this person effect your life in any shape, manner or form? You have decided that you are better than another human being, because they do not meet your ideals!

Worry about something that effects you, like your judgmental attitude!

It is frustrating. My father in law used to be 400 pounds and he would ride in one of those carts and park in the handicap spaces because it hurt his knees to walk. Of course it did. Our knees aren't designed to carry that much weight. Some people are overweight because of medications or a medical condition but most are there from their own mistakes.

I wouldn't know. I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart after stuff fell on me in that store and they won't pay the medical bills and now I am forced to sue them for it. I am the one that needs a motorized cart to shop.

Who cares! You should just feel sorry for them that they have let themselves get to that point. Think about how miserable their life must be and how embarressed they might be to have to do that everytime they go to the store.

They may not be able to move or breathe well. I doubt they're using it out of laziness. They may have problems YOU don't know about. Don't be so judgemental.
