The hair on your head has different cuticles than the hair on your face. The cuticle type determines whether your hair is thick or thin, blonde, red, black, etc.... When the cuticle dies, your hair turns white or grayish & comes out coarse & dry as there's nothing to determine what it should look like.
My husband has the same thing, he has blonde hair on top of his head & he has a red/blondish mustache. same with the goatee area. He's almost full blooded irish, so that's where he gets it from. The irish have a lot of red heads.

Facial hair is governed by different genes than your head hair. It is not unusual for people with brown hair to have black beards and people with blonde hair to have brown beards.

It's very likely that you have brown hair with red highlights on your head.
