Face it, if these hard-working immigrants werent in the US (legal or not), would YOU do their work?? Where my parents live, they employ latinos for EVERYTHING, then, treat them terribly. These immgrants work harder than ANY other American, even those of you who say "I work 12 hours a day..blah blah blah" That's behind a desk, NOT in the hot sun, without anyone telling you thanks for a job well done....So, given the chance, go out in the blaring hot sun, do maual labor for 12 hours, then tell me, is YOUR job that difficult??? We take so much for granted in this country, you forget that gratitude brings blessings--be grateful for what you have, and thank those who do the work you think you are "too good" for...............

thanks for saying my parents were abusive you are SO ignorant...also, i know quite a lot of US citizens taking advantage of our welfare system, healthcare, social security, and claim they "cant" work due to disabilities--I commend those who have physical/mental challenges and are THRILLED to be working...its a choice--you can either wait for the government to come in and give you a hand-out, or you can get out there and do something--pick a side, but dont blame immigrants for "taking" our jobs... When I say would you do their work, i mean at their wages??? And, also, the immigrants send $$ home to Mexico to help their families...so, they dont make a whole lot to keep for themselves, and are willing to help out others unlike a lot of Americans who are only concerned about themselves.....

I guess I wouldn't but I am in favor of an immigration bill. I really want equality for all of those who work in this country and same opportunity.

OK, you can drop the "holier than thou" act. I have worked in the construction industry and the farming industry. My aunts, uncles, and grand parents have all worked in the farming industry as well. The ONLY reason I work in an office now, is because I hurt my knee(torn ACL, PCL, and meniscus) and can no longer do that work. I like working outside, it is a whole lot more entertaining. Until you sit behind a desk for 8+ hours a day, I don't want to hear about how difficult the job is, because you don't know. I will say this, I had much more energy after coming home from work after working in the hot sun all day, than I do coming home from my boring as hell office job. Oh yeah, and you think that you get commended for a job well done in the office either?? Hell no.

theavg.american- You are the type of people that join cults..... You watched a comedy show, and now base you opinions of an ENTIRE nation off of said show. Wow, America really is getting dumb.

I worked in a chicken plant a couple of years ago, and "Latinos," as you called them, all illegal immigrants, worked in the refrigeration unit cutting chicken on their feet in the cold from 8 to 10 hours a day. I don't know one single American that would do that. In fact, I sat at the front desk and neither whites nor African Americans EVER stayed to apply for the job once I showed them what they would have to do. Actually one white girl did once, but then she never showed up. I worked there a year and a half, and I mean it was only Latinos.

HOWEVER, I am still anti-illegal aliens! I believe if employers would pay more to work in these conditions, then more whites and African-Americans, etc. would accept these hard jobs! Think about it. If the illegals had some competition for jobs, they wouldn't have jobs!!!

Speak for yourself there, lady, I HAVE worked out in the hot, hot sun, and for not much money, either. I agree, some of the things they do are not easy, but you know, like, get yourself in shape and wear gloves and stuff. Furthermore, no one's faulting their work ethic etc., and I have NO problem if someone's legally in the United States and they're seeking work. The criteria and stipulation and point of debate here is LEGAL. If it's against the law for you to be in the United States, then it's probably illegal for you to be holding a job, have an american driver's license, the whole trip.

The border needs to be enforced. YOU apparently need to re-acquaint yourself with the concept of manual labor. If people like YOU weren't so damn lazy, apparently, there'd be no need for a 'shadow' workforce working under the table for 3 bucks an hour or whatever. The whole thing stinks, the border mess has been a problem decades in the making, it'll be years before it's all sorted out, a lot of employers out there have been paying people off so they can get by with hiring illegals, I'm sorry you don't like it but that's the way it is. If someone's out to work legally, there's a process to do that. I believe it's called 'a green card'.

Furthermore, there are no 'jobs that americans won't do'. There's a widespread misconception that americans are too good to do their own dirty work, but that's more of the usual slander directed against our country. Americans can shovel ****, slaughter animals, and so forth. What we've witnessed is corporations that only see fit to hire small armies of people that work cheap, because it's more lucrative for them to do it that way. If more americans were OUT there, doing some of that dirty work,
it might help people to develop a better appreciation for some of this...

let's not get lost in that argument before realising the following: If everyone in the usa was legal, the wages for these jobs of which you speak would be actual "LIVING WAGES" and then, YES, any average person would be holding those jobs. What you are forgetting is that before these companies started hiring illegals for cheaper labor, thse jobs were all held by HARD WORKING AMERICANS who were more than happy to put in a hard days work for a decent wage. But when you make it impossible to live on a paycheck doing that particular job, then how could you expect anyone with any INTELLIGENCE to work there. Illegals that come here and work for those unfair wages are bringing down pay scales for everyone.
And believe me, honey, you would get worn to the ground just trying to keep up with me at my job, so speak from knowledge rather from what you hear people saying.

Funny-hard workers put this country together from the settlers who had nothing but their hands to now. Where were all these hard workers of Mexico in building their own country? Afraid to use their own hands to build there?
We can always do the work. And many do nut case. Be grateful your here and not some other country where they would shoot your butt.
Show me the works of your country since olden day and you can already see our works. Big difference and long before the flood coming in.
We will not miss this so called help of theirs-kids will do the work or we will.
Try getting some knowledge it might help your poor reasoning skills.

There is no such thing as "thier work", as illegals also take jobs that Americans do already, such as higher paying construction trade jobs...I personally have experienced being a middle aged, white, american man with years of experience, pushed out of the construction trades by illegals here in Ca.
Illegals are like anyone else, they will advance until they can take ANY job they want & they'll do it for less because they don't have the cost of living expense legals & americans have...

The jobs were done before they came and could be done by legal immigrants if we needed that.

Jobs we DO want to do, like construction, would then be back for Americans.

We pay for universal education here. They don't do that in Mexico because it is expensive. Poor people who pay all of their taxes still only pay a fraction of the cost for education and that is just a single service that is being ruined by unstemmed illegal immigration.

Having them pick strawberries is not worth it.

Let's not forget that these immigrants take millions jobs away from americans and they will work for nothing. They have killed the job market for alll americans in the trade/ service industry. I am sick of tired being asked to PUSH ONE to Continue in english. I am tired of not getting a job because it is cheaper to hire 2 immigrants then to hire me. I blame this country. When the hell are me gonna put some giant construction cones floating in the water around the statue of liberty, I contruction hat placed on Ms. Liberties head and a Giant sign saying CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love to have my Indian Dr.'s job. Let's be honest your talking about illegal immigrants who're doing manual labor. If it paid the same I'd love to work outside, when I was in high school I worked under the table at a sawmill and as a mason's laborer, and I'd take either of those jobs over my desk job if it paid the same.

A few weeks ago I was watching the mind of mencia on comedy central; On the show he had a skit where a white woman was cleaning toliets for a living. She said " I can't believe, me a white woman, could be cleaning toilets for minimum wage". That show made me realize nobody that lives in America will do that job.
