It is a fact that the British Army, as a whole, are better trained. It might be the fact that alot of Americans are weekend warriors... It might be the fact that the British infantry course takes 24 weeks (26 for the mighty Guards Division) compared to the 8 week American course.

In saying all this... On the battlefield, we are friends. Fair enough, the US has to quit it with the old blue-on-blue (joke guys) but I hve no problem with the american army. When we are together, you will see all the US Soldiers in the gym pumpin the old iron, and the UK Troops out in the field tabbing or running around.

Its a totally different story in the pub. I think I read somewhere that when the US are on ops with the UK they are warned "Never engage in drinking competitions with British Soldiers" LOL

Hey ... the "might British empire" DID kick some major butt in ... ummmm ... ahem ... the Falkland Islands.

THAT statement is for ********* like you.

For most other Brits - who are intelligent, warm and endearing - let me say that I love you guys and your army. I have had the opportunity to train with Brits on many ocassions throughout my career - enough to thoroughly HATE the Salisbury Plain training area! LOL!! The style that the Brits use versus the Americans is definitely different. But they are both just as effective.

Also, Brits have more experience in dealing with situations involving terror due to Northern Ireland. The Americans stand to learn a lot from them. The Americans, on the other hand, have a lot more experience at traditional combat. Each has their own place, and every time the Brits and the Americans train together, each side learns a great deal.

There is a reason that we are allies and have been for so many years. We have a common language, common ancestry, common values and common goals. We will continue to work hand in hand to achieve our common goals - despite people like you.

P.S. If you look closely at my picture - I know it is very small - you will find 5 Brits and 2 Americans in it. That was taken last year in England while I was training with the British Army. Balls to the wall 20-hour days for almost 2 weeks straight. And I didn't die. :-)

Excuse me chap but you might find that you wouldn’t sound quite like your family tree was a wreath if you’d have made some reference to the video source (the webpage?). Also it’s apparent to most here that you are being just as manipulated by your country’s version of the media machine as those in the US are. Perhaps if you weren’t watching the garbage news network while quaffing that 6th pint of Guinness or Bass you might have a few brain cells left over to question the validity of what you’re seeing and hearing. But in case you still aren’t convinced, please allow me to refresh you with some of the other more brilliant moments in British military history:
•1775-83 The Revolutionary War (is that the US of B?)
•The war of 1812 U.S. forces defeat the British (Again? Must be because of the weather.)
•The Zulu War of 1879 (was that a win? No I think not)
•British India must have been a brilliant moment of humiliation (but you did get curries.)
•1940 the defeated British Army in Belgium was driven back by the Germans to the French seacoast city of Dunkirk (Go job chaps, well done!)
•You also might want to chalk this one up as a loss too because you definitely don’t seem to be finding a lot of people that want to be on your side of this argument either.

What was the title of this "programme"? Since I've seen firsthand how American soldiers keep cool and collected under fire, I would like to research this "documentary" on the internet, and see just what you are talking about.

Apparently, "British Army; Be The Best", is a recruitement tool used by the British Army. What did you expect them to say? "British Army; Be Pretty Good"? I saw countless documentaries made about the US military that say the same thing about itself.

You should provide a source or some type of proof because I've never heard this in my life...I'm not being cocky, I'm willing to bet there are better trained soldiers then American ones, but I wouldn't guess the British.

"yanks"...oh, you're British, well no wonder you said that...lol, it's bull then.

The problems with The GI is playing too much computer and video games.
So they get jittery in the real world out there on planet earth.
When they could not differentiate between reality and fantasy out there on planet earth
They should spent more time in the real world than comic books
out there on planet earth.
That is what orson wells was trying to tell living human kind about Mr. Big Brother in screwing living human kind on planet earth.

Let's see how you would feel if some one was shooting at you. Besides that, what difference does it make. I'm glad the British are doing a good job. Why would I want one of our allies to do a bad job? That's just a dumb question. What next? My daddy can beat up your daddy? If your looking for a fight go to Iraq!

Take some history lessons! The Americans saved your British island in both world wars, that's why your soldiers today are not in the elite Adolf Hitler SS Division.

Every country would like to believe that their soldiers are the best trained.

American soldiers are probably better in some areas & the British soldiers better in other areas.

It would really take a non-biased third party to evaluate this. I don't think there are any third parties that are non-biased to both the USA & GB.

Hey we are still allies aren't we?
