I dont understand why it seems as though some took my question as an angry one. it isnt. lemme clear this up and give you some background on me. I am an athiest, my wife is a Wiccan, we have three children and are taking care of my elderly (christian) Grandmother. its an interesting life to say the least.

saying that I believe in something because I believe in nothing is like saying I am white becuase I believe I am not black...I'm going to be white no matter if I think I'm blue or purple...

the question is raised because lately there have been several religeous discussions in the household, and several times Jehovas witnesses at the door etc. no one (save for my wife) understands my lack of belief, those of alternitive religeons tend to understand, or want to understand much more than do those of conventional *read ancient* religions. lack of something does not imply the existance of something to fill its place. there is no void

All I can say is this (without reading into the previous question).
You've heard about Jesus and what he did.
You've made a choice that you don't believe in Him.

It IS your choice, my friend. But just because you make a choice that is different doesn't mean God and Christ don't exist.

PS - Please remember that there are all types of Christian denominations. A lot of times the actions of the whole are labeled by the work of a few. Is that really fair? So in part, but on different levels, we are both misunderstood.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is. You seem to be saying that because you don't believe in God or any of the conventional *ancient* religions, that that doesn't imply that you believe in something else? That you can believe in nothing.

But I would argue that atheists DO have a religion. It is called humanism -- where they are their own god, in the sense that they decide for themselves what is right or wrong.

I'm not sure what the original question was but i notice that many religious folks demand that one believes in their myths and dogma as if belief is something one can chose, as if faith can be manufactured at will. if someone threatens you with eternal damnation if you don't believe in purple polka dotted unicorns the threat wont make polka dotted purple unicorns real for you. some of us require some kind of logic, some kind of evidence of accuracy in order to put faith in a concept. its impossible for some folks to simply believe in something b/c someone claims they know "The Truth". peer pressure and threats of damnation don't cause the self honest to suddely have faith in invisable super beings.

This might sound a bit brutal but do you know that all people who do not believe in Jesus Christ will be going to hell for eternity,Yes I am talking to you brother! Not believing in anything is only going to get you to hell where you will never see your family again. Would you rather burn in hell for eternity or believe in jesus christ and be saved and live forever in heaven with jesus.
Lokk to the BIBLE for guidance and go to a BIBLE teaching church and I'm not talking about Jehovah witnesses.

There seems to be no actual question associated with this stream-of-conscious blathering.

Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion:

actual international historic previous ought to provide us pause and make us ask your self what position faith has performed contained in the various wars which have devastated mankind and led to untold suffering. Why have such distinctive human beings killed and been killed contained in the call of religion? the component of Christendom has been noteworthy for its hypocrisy in this field. In 2 international wars, Catholic has killed Catholic and Protestant has killed Protestant on the behest of their “Christian” political leaders. yet the Bible obviously contrasts the works of the flesh and the fruitage of the spirit. concerning the works of the flesh, it states: “they're fornication, uncleanness, free habit, idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, suits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and such issues as those. As to this stuff i'm forewarning you, an similar way as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such issues received't inherit God’s kingdom.” yet so-called Christians have practiced this stuff for hundreds of years, and their habit has in many circumstances been condoned by technique of their clergy.—Galatians 5:19-21. compared, the positive fruitage of the spirit is defined as: “love, exhilaration, peace, lengthy-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, strength of will. adverse to such issues there is no regulation.” All religions should be generating one of those non violent fruitage. yet do they? Does yours?—Galatians 5:22, 23.

If you mean your question,

"Why do people of faith insist that Athiests believe in something too....?"

Because a child molested by its parents is jealous of an orphan.

Good luck, man. To paraphrase John Lennon: "Whatever gets you through the night, it's all right -- it's all right."
