I am a Christian and this is news to me. An atheist is one who has a lack of belief. Tragedy has nothing to do with what you do or do not believe. Amazing that you bring up a witch because they do satanic worship. That you will find is a belief. To be a truly good Christian means to be Christ like. That is the reason for the atheist , Christians need to perfect their walk with the Lord and show the compassion and Love that Jesus did without condemnation. Whatever you are does not matter, when the day comes, and you stand before the Lord to explain why you didn't follow the examples He gave, Oh well. Old saying: Every little piggy has to carry his hide to the market. It would be far from me to cram religion down your throat. The Word of God is a different story, That I believe. Religion is what causes atheists dear. All of the man made rules to follow that do not come directly from the Word of God. Brotherhood, Love , Compassion, Truth, Doing Good and on goes the list from the Bible. Try reading the New Testement with an open mind.

I would say that some agnostics call themselves atheists due to tragedies in their lives - a small number. I think that confuses the issue alot as an agnostic (one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god).
With that said, however, most atheists are atheists because they don't believe in God. I think there's a wide variety of reasons why people are atheists, from growing up in a non-believing household, to tragedies, to conscious decision making. I don't think you can narrow it down to one, two or even three reasons - each person is an individual with their own reasoning and rationale for atheism.
Just to be clear on definitions:
If you're an atheist, you're a non-believer in God or gods, in Heaven, in Jesus, in Muhammed, in Moses, etc. - period, no exceptions.
www.dictionary.com: One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.
But I've also found, that atheists understand the concept of religion, but don't really 'get' what faith is...
God bless.
PS: The words atheist and agnostic should not be capitalized.

I have never heard anyone say that Atheists experienced a tragedy before becoming an atheist. Most atheists i know just became that way when they realized there was not a god in their opinion.

Okay, I have been a Christian for a long time and to be honest I never even gave a thought to why Atheists become Atheists.
The way I figure it is that you became that way because it was soemthing that appealed to your belief system at the time. I know that it is not my job to "turn" you into a Christian.
What I don't understand is why is it okay for people to bash my belief system to make theirs seem better?

>>>Why do Christians think Atheists experienced a tragedy to become an Atheist?>>>
First of all, not all of us think that about all atheists.
Second of all, there definitely ARE people who abandoned their belief in God after some personal loss or tragedy.
So, if a Christian believes that personal loss or tragedy at times causes people to abandon their faith, he/she is not always wrong.

It's easier for a deluded theist to think an atheist is suffering without religion than to admit the atheist has stopped suffering from religion.
It's easier for the theist to pretend the atheist is ignorant than to admit the atheist is knowledgeable.
It hurts the theist's pride less to demand the atheist "respect god" than the hurt to the theist's pride by respecting the atheist's lack of belief.

I've never thought or believed that Atheists have experienced a tragedy to make them believe as they do, no more that I have ever thought that all Christians have experienced a miracle of divine intervention to make them believe as they do. Ones beliefs are personal. No one can make up your mind for you.

I take position to believe that we Christians are likely incorrect in some issues that we believe, merely as atheists are actual astounding in some factors they make. after all, we are finite beings, with finite carry close of truth. imagine of it this kind: A flea hatched on a dogs can hardly ever carry close the reality of existence outdoors the ambience on which it changed into born; truly, it may likely not in any respect take position to the flea that there is different dogs, now to not teach that there is cats---and the theory that there is hairless or furless animals may be incomprehensible. yet, the following we are, and few anybody is roofed by using hair. The dogs on which that flea hatched honestly can not carry close the reality of existence as experienced by using the people between which it lives---now to not teach, understand the wondering techniques of those people. yet, the following we are---and certain, we imagine. in my opinion, the flea or dogs can understand human wondering extra thoroughly than we people can carry close prevalent truth. Why may i imagine that i ought to carry close infinity with my finite psychological skill? i am going to't. If i am going to understand God or describe God, then God isn't God. We Christians take position to believe that the nature of God has been revealed; how the nature of that revelation is defined varies, reckoning on the particular Christian frame of mind. truly, the numerous vast difference between the non secular frame of mind of the three Abrahamic faiths and that of different faith traditions is that we who belong to between the Abrahamic traditions remember on a own God Who has revealed His/Her/Its Nature. will we do not ignore that Nature? i don't believe so. will we MISunderstand the revelation(s) of the Divine Nature? honestly. and for this reason i'm not disillusioned even as i discover that I actually have likely been incorrect in a number of my concepts, and performance to modify them. and for this reason i'm very grateful that i'm a member of a faith custom which inspires me to consider commerce perspectives, and to continuously analyze and reassess my own positions---and to modify my perspectives even as i think that is termed for. BTW, my church is the Episcopal Church.

I'm a Christian and never said that. Are you lying on Christians?I really dont care why Athiest dont believe as one who called himself Athiest once I do understand a few things about why I myself considered myself a non believer....I lacked understanding and revelation....Now I completely understand that God reveals himself to those who see value in him...So I am not surprised when someone who does not value god does not have revelation.
