Yes, he is VERY important.

Jesus is the only son of God. He was born of a virgin (Mary) here on earth and lead a sinless life - all for us. He performed many miracles and preached to many people. He was Jewish, from the house of Judah, and his coming was foretold in the scriptures.

He was nailed to a cross by Roman soldiers, sacrificing himself for the sins of the entire world so that if anyone believed that believed in Him might be forgiven of all their sin an live with Him in heaven forever.

Jesus did what no man (or woman) could ever do. Without him, we would be even further apart from God. That's called hell.

Jesus is the Son of God He came here to give His life to pay for all of our sins because God is just and merciful all of our sins needed to be paid for by God's law but we are unable to pay the cost ,so God sent His Son to pay for us. Yes Jesus is the most important person to walk the earth He gives us eternal life after we leave this place.

As the Buddha was awakened; Jesus remembered. He remembered being with God before he was born. He remembered what most of us forget. A person born with a veil over them when they are born, are very intuitive, because this is the flesh of Christ. As far as being important; Jesus didn't really want to come here. If he did; why would he say "I come not of my own; but he sent me." Consider this; who would want to come to a place where they would be spit on, whipped, and nailed to a cross? When God orders you to come here, you come. You cannot plead your case to God as to why you should remain in heaven.
