This morning after church, as my family was leaving the parking lot, I witnessed members of our congregation "flipping the middle-finger" to at each other. These were adult males of their families and both had their wives and children in the cars with them. This incident provoked a discussion in my vehicle (family) about how this happens immediately after church. Are we really a Christian nation or to we invoke Christianity in name only? We still have a death penalty in the US, we still have poverty in our country. We seem to throw money at tragedies like New Orleans and Thailand. Why don't more churches condemn the fighting in Iraq, but heaven forgive the individual that would burn an American flag. Where are the priorities? Where is the forgiveness? Are we really practicing Christians or Christians in name only?

Well put!!! It does seem the majority are Christian in name only, though not all act like that. I can't say I have read about any of our history where it would seem this place was a "Christian Nation".

A lot of churches support the war, simply because many of them see this as a chance at the "end of the world". Right now people see almost every leader as "THE Anti-Christ". And the political Christians such as the Right Wingers see this as a way to put a little more in their wallets.

America , Despite our mistakes and problems , remains a force for good in this world. Anywhere in the world where people suffer you will find an American doing his/her best to help. Whenever there is a catastrophie Americans are first, last, and most to help. Don't let a couple knuckleheads flippin the bird in the parking lot sour your view of the greatest country on God's green earth. Besides, I know guys who wave at each other with their birdie fingers.

I think many Christians are christian in name only because that's the socially acceptable religion. Many go to church to socialize with others.

America used to be a Christian nation, but we have moved away and I don't think it will ever be again. Especially because of the many so-called Christians modifying what the Bible teaches so that they would not be "inconvenienced".

That's an easy question to answer. Of course the USA is not a christian nation but look at other countries. There's murderers and a**holes in every nation. I doubt even the Vatican can call itself totally christian.

Let's see..they have the poppy war in afgan. the oil war in iraq, the wood and water war with canada and churches that suppress the poor even further in their country and influence this ideal around the world.
But you know you already answered your own question anyway.
