Simply because they like it, some dogs more than others. Contrary to popular belief it does not mean they are lacking anything in there diet (you can feed the top brands and they still like grass) nor does it mean their tummy is upset. However sometimes when they eat it they throw up for a variety of reasons. Ate too much, long piece gagged them, sick from pesticides on the grass...etc.
BTW...it is not a sign they HAVE worms but if another dog has dropped worm eggs where your dog is grazing it can certainly GIVE them worms.

Dogs will eat grass because there's something bothering their digestive system. Many times a dog will vomit right after eating grass...the vomit is usually a foamy texture with the blades of grass through it. It's nature's way of poviding a natural medicine for the dog.

Dogs usually eat grass when they have an upset tummy, usually happens when they've "wolfed" their food whole or ate something that didn't agree with them. So unless they throw something up that looks suspicious, there's nothing to worry about.

My dad and other people told me that they eat it because certain grasses help digestive systems. My cats occasionally eat grass too. Thats all I know.

Because their stomach hurts. They also need to eat grass in order to eliminate the hairs they swallowed.

Dogs eat everything.
I have heard stories of dogs eating plants because they want to make themselves throw up. Apparently, a lot of animals do this to save themselves when they think they have accidentally eaten something spoiled or poisonous.
They might also just be looking for fiber to keep their digestive systems moving.
