Hey all,
I am a Canadian who is going to marry an American citzen in the spring. Once I apply for my green card, can I work while I am waitng for it? I see so many sites out there and I am nervous about which site to pay to get my papers.
Also do you have to pay to go get advice from an immigration officer? as I would feel more comfortable to go talk to someone, so they can tell me exactally how to get dual citzenship, the best way.?

As for paying websites to get your papers, you shouldn’t pay any site. Don’t trust any of them. The paperwork is pretty clear and can usually be filled out on your own. The one thing I can't stress enough to you is to be honest on everything. If you are really scared about the process and have the money, then call an American immigration lawyer. If I was you, I would go with a bar-certified lawyer in the US for a quick phone assessment to see if your case is really that complicated. And remember, there are two people you never lie to – god and your lawyer.

Do not pay anyone to file your paperwork for you. It is not difficult, but imcompetent assistance can cost you both money and your visa.

By the way, it is far too soon to talk about citizenship. You cannot be naturalized as a US citizen by marriage. You must be a legal permanent resident first.

No you don't have to pay to speak to an immigration officer. you can contact uscis or go to www.emichoice.com and speak to someone for free. Either way it is free, so good luck.

WHEN YOU GET MARRIED, YOU HAVE TO APPLY FOR WORK PERMIT, WHEN YOU GET IT, THEN YOU CAN WORK EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR GREEN CARD.
YOU CAN MAKE AN APPOINMENT WITH AN IMMIGRATION OFFICER FOR FREE, AND GET THE INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED.
