Well after you download it you will need to either burn it or use a program like (alcohol) to mount it. It is better to install on a different hard drive from the windows operating system you are currently using or a new partition so you can still use both of your systems just in case you have any driver issues with the beta vista or are just unsatisfied with it. I didn't go to much into detail but i hope it helps?

You no longer can. They have closed the website to download it.

"Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista. The Customer Preview Program is now closed. We have reached our program capacity and no new orders are being accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Now, you might try to find it on Usenet, as a torrent or on a Peer 2 Peer program. But from Microsoft, alas no more.

Go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/get_it.mspx

Click on the Register Today link on the right side and follow the instructions. Once you get your installation key, go back to the link and download it.

Update: It seems that the public beta period is over, they're not accepting any more applications. Sorry.
