The only thing I can suggest is that when you go to court tell the judge that you need your car to find a new job. The other thing might be to start making some sort of payment on the loan and write a letter with a plan to make regular payment. An attempt to show you want to pay on the loan may get them off your back. If you are making an attempt the bank may back off or the judge will give you time. Whatever you do you must mean to go thru with it. Good luck.

Sounds like the only option here is to get some crappy mac-jobs to make enough money to make the payments. Debt/Monthly Payments is an evil situation that can only really be cured by paying it off or on time. Remember if you try hiding the car from the collectors they view that as theft nowadays. SO between the option of making your monthly payment or grand theft auto, try to make the payments on the car.
Otherwise you could talk to family or friends about getting some money together to make the payments. Or become a stripper to make some quick cash if you're in good shape. If you're not in such good shape, go get another job to make those payments.
Car repo folks don't screw around with taking people's cars. Even nice people that have lost their job get repo'd

If you owe less on the vehicle than the payoff (unlikely) you can sell the car, pay off the balance and keep whatever equity you have in the vehicle. If you owe more, you would have to pay the difference.
The problem is you are behind on your payments, and are not working. I hate to say this, but if you REALLY want to keep the car, you need to take any job you can find! You may need to work two or three jobs, in places that you never wanted to work, to make enough money to pay your bills.
You have missed several payments on your car, which tells me that you have not been working for several months!! It is time to get up and swallow your pride, and take whatever work you can find!
If there is no work in your area, then you need to relocate!!
You can not keep the car unless you pay for it. There is an old saying in the finance business, "if you pay for it, it is your car, if you do not pay, it is ours".
Sorry!

I've read through all the answers and all of them are correct but they all forgot one step.
I have been down on my luck before, very low. Sometimes when you are low you need to do drastic items to save the main items you have.
You could try and sell some stuff you have on ebay but since you have a court date already I would say you don't have the time for that now.
Your best option is to go through everything you have. Jewelry, watches, guitars, TV's, DVD players, video game consoles, you name it, collect it up. Find a local pawn shop and don't pawn it, but sell it to them. Considered it money you hid away for a rainy day.
It might hurt to part with some items but what hurts more....riding a bus or not having some piece of junk you can buy again in the future when you are back on your feet.
Once when in college I ended up selling off my entire 900 cd music collection just to eat for a few wks cause times got tough.
In my 20's I was forced to sell off my little dream car I had gotten just to ensure normal bills got paid.
Its part of life, we all go up and down at times. Just when you are up stash away cash or ensure items you buy will have value if you need to sell them and you will always have that cushion.

So you think you should be allowed to keep something that you can't pay for? You had 30 to 60 days to get another job before repo came up, Burger flipper too low a job for you? Housecleaning, babysitting? Anything for a buck to make the payments? Start walking baby. The want to take it because you don't get to keep what you don't pay for. Welcome to the real world. I have a car payment too, if I don't make it they will come for my car too.

You only have one way out of this. Hand the finance company's attorney a cashier's check for payment of the loan in full. Unfortunately there's nothing else that you can do. Sorry.

you can find some kind of job - that you won't lose it. If you let them know that you are looking for a job and you explain your situation to them, they might be willing to work with you. Good luck!
