It's not a syndrome. If after 40 years you're still obsessing over your first love you've wasted your life. You should see a therapist.

I don't think you would call it a syndrome, it is a thing with the heart. Love is a very hard thing to over come especially if that first love was when you were young. Believe me I have held my first love in my heart and mind for over 45 years but life goes on and it can just remain a memory, the trick is to remember all the good things and forget the bad things in the relationship or it will eat you alive.

IF YOU WANT IT TO,, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE,
FORTY YEARS, DOES THIS PERSON KNOW YOU? ARE YOU MARRIED TO THEM, OR A NEIGHBOR?
IT SEEMS TO OME THAT FORTY YEARS, YOU WORK LIKE HELL LTO KEEP THAT BURNING DESIRE IN YOUR HEART, OR MAYBE YOU ARE TOO LAZY, OR AFRAID TO GO AFTER SOMEONE AVAILABLE, IF YOU THINK OF THIS SO MUCH, I WOULD SAY YOU ARE ADDICTED TO T THOUGHT, AN EMOTION AND WOULD RATHER "PRESERVE " THIS RATHER THAN PARTICIPATE IN YOUR REAL LIFE, HOW COME YOU HAVE MANY HOURS IN A DAY TO KEEP THIS UP, ARE YOU UNEMPLOYED, OR IN JAIL OR ILL?
I DO NOT MEAN TOO BE DISRESPECTFUL,,, IT IS JUST THAT TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS, IF YOU DON'T PICK AT THEM\
MAYBE IT IS NORMAL FOR YOU, BUT I THINK THAT IS A LONELY LIFE,

i dont know much about psychology but it seems you are stuck in the past. have you had any relationships since the "first love"? i dont believe it should take ; on any level of first love, hours a day.
you must come to realization and live in the present

Why not? But, if you are in a current relationship with somone that you love, this longing wouldn't surface so often.
