Whether or not he is the savior i do not know. But, i do believe that he existed, meaning that his existance as a prophet is not a myth.

Why not Savior of Mythology?

No sane man can doubt the existance of the man Jesus. He is mentioned in too many places: Roman records, the history of Josephus etc... What people must debate is who he is.

The best records of who Jesus was are contained in the new testament of the Bible. There is no denying who he claimed to be, ""I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"" John 8:58, he claimed not only to be the son of God, but also God himself.

Now since we know whe he thought he was, there are three possibilities: He was who he said he was; he was not who he said he was but believed he was; or he knew he was not who he said he was.

If he was in fact the Lord, then everything is all fine and dandy. He performed miracles, took the punishment for our sin and restored a right relationship with God. If he is not who he claims to be then you must consider the other two possibilities.

If he was lying about who he was, why did he go to the death by crucifixion because of it. No sane person would purposely die for what they knew was false.

If he truely belived what he said but was wrong, why would his followers have died as well? Even after Jesus' death his followers preached his message depite persecution, some even recieved the same fate as Jesus himself. The words that he spoke were not those of an insane man either.

When considering the evidence, the best explaination is that Jesus was in fact Lord as he claimed to be.

As a savior, total myth. As a human, possibly. The entire story is simply too full of the stuff that sells great fiction today. Those writers could make millions in Hollywood today.

Do you honestly want to know or are you just trying to start an argument? There are those of us who come to this website looking for knowledge and insight as well as trying to solve problems in the world. Have there been misunderstandings and issues that still need to be resolved between religious and non-religious people? Yes and your constant bating of religious people into arguments like this one isn't going to help the situation. As Thict Nhat Han said it best: "The purpose of a debate should not be to convert the other person to your point of view but rather to grant the equal validity of the other persons view so as to create greater understanding between differing beliefs."Have there been Christians who don't want an honest debate? Yes but there have been just as many Atheists who don't want one either. The current trouble in the Middle East is a great example of when religions and countries are controled by men who refuse to see the validity of differing viewpoints.

I'd have to say a little of both. He was definitely a truly enlightened human being, even a prophet, but I'm not sure I would go so far as to say either myth or savior.

I don't think either answer is appropriate.

I see "Jesus" as either mythology or Saviour.

Are you aware that there is only one chapter in the bible where Jesus claims to be the ONLY son of God? That would be the third chapter of John. Almost all other occasions where Jesus labels himself; he only calls himself "the son of man"

Jesus gave two commandments.

Love the lord, and love your neighbor as yourself.

He did NOT issue a third commandment to worship him.

I see Jesus as our big brother; who set an example for us to follow.
