I don't. I can't believe that as kind and forgiving as God is, he (or she) would send someone to such a horrible place to suffer. I think religous types made hell up to scare us in to being good, like they did with Santa Claus.

Be thankful.

You have a sharp mind.

Don't let anyone suck you into thinking God is a judgmental as-.

She loves you and sees you as a perfect creation of his.

Firstly - Santa Claus being invented to scare kids into being good? What did your Santa give or do to you that makes you think he is a scare tactic? Where I come from Santa Claus is about (aside from the modern commercial aspects!!) giving, and fantasy, and children's imagination.

Secondly - If you believe in "Heaven" how can you not believe in "Hell"? Yin & Yang. You cannot have good without evil. It's called balance and the Universe would not, and could not, exist without it. Does this mean you'd be happy to share your "Heaven" with paedophiles, rapists, murderers, and the like?
There are many people who believe we are already in "Hell" - when you look at tragedies happening around the globe to innocent people - do you not think that for some, they've already been sent to a horrible place to suffer?

I think there's a possibility that some people might not want to be with God, or spend eternity in a reality they never believed would exist. It's possible. So maybe, when the time comes, God will give us the choice- live with Him in paradise, or spend the rest of eternity in oblivion. No "Fire & Brimstone" and all that jazz- just black nothingness- no conciousness. I think people that believe eveyone will be saved are called "universalists", or something to that effect. But I certainly would like to believe that God wouldn't send anyone to "Hell".

The idea of hell is a control mechanism used to make people behave (or rather, not behave) a certain way. I am agnostic, but I don't think the concept of hell is consistent with other things that are taught by the various religions about the kindness and love of God.

There is no hell. Hell is a spiritual condition. Close to God is heaven.
Far from God is hell. Hell and the devil are just the bogey man
scenario meant to scare christians into being good.

Hell is separation from God. God keeps trying to reach through to the dead...but soon He will also say, "let the dead bury the dead."

AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH...

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will
NEVER pass away.

...as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the
coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the
flood, people were feasting and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered
the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen
until the flood came and took them all away. This is
how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two
men will be in the field; one will be taken and the
other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand
mill; one will be taken and the other left....
Matthew 24:35-41

It has been given to me to tell everyone this:

The Door to living in God's Presence, in fellowship
with Him, was CLOSED when the first Adam was kicked
out...(which ruined it for everyone) before this he
was perfect and knew God deeply and intimately. A
second perfect Adam (Jesus Christ) REOPENED the Door
so that we could be restored to the original
Relationship. So man chooses which Adam he wants to be
joined to. Not choosing just leaves you in the first
one...outside the open door.

All are welcomed to come back to God through Christ
if they want to. The only thing is, the AGE OF GRACE
is ready to come to a close...which means the Door
will be closing as well. So, people, don't wait too
long. Jesus is the only DOOR to God. If you don't
enter, it's your own choice...God doesn't choose it
for you.

Christ is the door to the spiritual "Ark"...when the
floods of judgment come again....WHERE WILL YOU BE?

...as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the
coming of the Son of Man This is how it will be at
the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the
field; one will be taken and the other left. Two
women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be
taken and the other left....

I know not all can understand this, but at least you
won't be able to say, "But Lord...I DIDN'T KNOW!
Nobody ever told me!"

Time is SHORT! Get READY!

I'm a New Orleans Saints fan, so of course I do.

I'm with you on the idea of a loving God, our parent, not being willing to condemn any of us to eternal torment.

I do think there is a possibility of a Hell that's a sort of temporary place of separation until we gain perspective to be with God.

I think the people pushing the idea of eternal torture and burning do it not to scare others into behaving as much as to satisfy their need to believe there will be "infinite justice" for those not like them.

Or you could believe that a kind and forgiving God would allow you to accept a place that is without Him. Which, would be hell.
