My cats do not cover up their poop and it stinks horribly all the time. How can I keep it smelling fresh all the time?

Clean it out every day...add baking soda...it helps absorb odor!

There's not way of "fresh smelling" all of the time. However, we use the crystals mixed with "Fresh Step" kitty litter. We have two cats, and that seems to do a very good job.

Nothing is better than scooping every day. If you don't scoop the box for a couple days or more, then you're asking for some really foul odors.

Keep everything clean, scoop every day, use a good kitty litter and mix with the crystals. Then completely change the box once a week.

That works for us!

Scoop it all the time. I love the Litter Locker, which is like a Diaper Geenie for cat poop. We put a kitty door in the door to the bathroom where the litter box is. It took some training for her to get used to it, but now we can keep the main door closed and the fan on. The trick is to remember to scoop it out every day because now it's not a bother. Also make sure you are changing the litter when necessary. For us, that's once a week.

Try using one of the pine pellet litters, like Feline Pine.
It is not dusty like clay litters( which I personally hate-- their dust carries smell everywhere and it's yuck to breathe).
The pine litter doesn't mask the poop smell initially, but either you scoop it, or it goes away after it sits. But you should scoop every day-- scoop the poop into the toilet, and then the pee just breaks the pellets down, so it saves the annoyance of bagging it up every day. And yes, dump the whole thing once a week--pine is much less heavy than clay too!

I've looked and answered some of your other questions, and I see you are pregnant! Congratulations! But I just thought you should now, pregnant women should not be around litterboxes. There is some chemical that is NOT good for you and your baby. I'm pretty sure it is true, and not a wives tale, because it came from MythBusters, and they disprove wives tales all the time.

But I don't know how to answer your question. Litter boxes just stink!

Cover it up for them or remove the waste once you notice its there. I also use this stuff called Zero Odor and it helps with the litter odor. You can just spray it right on top of the litter and it freshens it up.....doesn't bother the cats either because it has no smell itself.

Even if your cats don't cover their stuff. The whole pan should be dumped out, washed and all new litter added about once a week. Each cat should also have their own litter pan.

use a good cat litter (you get what you pay for) and try putting some baking soda in the bottom of the pan before you put the litter in it (put newspaper in the very bottom underneath the baking soda and litter.)
