The website for the correct procedure is:

Illegal immigration is a big issue in the UK at the moment. There have been a lot of fake marriage scams in the past, and the government is doing a lot to eradicate it.
If your fiance is a UK citizen, and you follow the procedures, you will be able to establish a life in the UK.
However, if you do nothing in advance, immigration officials at the airport could take you into a room for an interview, make a decision, and return you on another flight.
I am sorry to sound alarmist, but I want to stress that you need to do your research first.

I've been in this situation myself, I am American and I married my husband who is British in 2002. First I would need to know where you are from, if from the USA, then I should be able to help more.
First you need to get a visa before you come to the UK to get married. If you get married in the UK and then apply for a visa, you will most likely have to leave the country. You will first need to apply for a Settlement Visa: Fiancée. I have included the link to the USA British Embassy homepage, which details the information you will need to apply for your visa. Once you have received your visa, you are allowed to come to the UK and get married. This visa is only good for six months, and in that time you must get married, and you are not allowed to work. Once you are married, you then have to apply for a Spousal visa. This visa will last a year. Once you have received this you are normally allowed to work. After this visa you will then apply for a permanent residence visa, which will be your last, and entitle you to live in the UK indefinitely. It is very important that you do not allow either of your first two visa's to run out before you apply for the next one, doing so could end in you being deported.
I highly recommend that you check out the British Embassy's web site as it give lots of very important information, and goes over the legalities of immigration.
For you two be able to physically get married, all you would need to do, is go with your fiancé to a registry office in your area and apply for a marriage license. Upon going you will have to prove that you have permission to marry, ID, and I believe £60 to pay for fees. You will not be able to get married any sooner that two week from the date you apply to get your licence.
