You'll never meet someone if you're trying too hard. Be happy with yourself, build up a circle of friends & socialise. When you're relaxed & enjoying life, you will appear more attractive to the opposite sex.
Find a hobby or pastime that is not related to one sex and enjoy it! Try a new challenge. Anything to get you out meeting lots of people of all ages. Don't think you have to impress, just be yourself & enjoy life!

Singles groups through your home church. Art galleries and art shows are good places. If you have a favorite hobby and that hobby offers shows, seminars, etc., get on a mailing list for where they meet.
I would say go to the places you will want to frequent even after you have a girlfriend and, ultimately, your wife. If you can meet singles who enjoy the same things, then you will always have something in common.

Join a hobby class of your interest. For example yoga, fitness club, swimming, music class, dance class etc.
There certainly you will meet a girl/women, if you meet someone there, that could be a very good one towards your future partner.

Supermarket, library, walking the dog, join a sports club, theatre group anywhere where lots of people gather that has nothing to do with alcohol.

you're more likely to find good people volunteering at a homeless shelter than at a pub/bar/online dating!
so I say, go volunteer at a homeless shelter.
or do something else like that.

you can go anywhere and meet people from the opposite sex just go to little functions in your neighborhood and you will bound to meet you just have to go and look for them.
