try your local auctioneers - many local ones have good new and 2nd hand stuff that is cheap, from a few pound. Visit first to get an idea how it works and on the next visit make sure you stick to a budget. Best bet is to fill in your max. price and leave it rather than bid 'live' if you are not sure. And different things come up each week. Our local one in Bedford is a great evening out - looking and a great morning out buying or watching plus you get great bacon sarnies!! its great fun and you might even find as desk. PS take a tape measure with you. Val

Try Ikea first - they are great on design and the cost is low. While you are there be sure to try their famous swedish meatballs ! (unless you are a vegetarian) Or browse Argos catalogue - good value.

You could also consider second hand? Some fantastic bargains to be had.

Have fun looking and I hope you find the best desk!!
