Just being in the same area they are in. It's a funny thing, cheering another person up. Often, you don't know what they need at the time. And, without knowing all the details, it's difficult to suggest things to you.

ex: Death of a Spouse; Depending on your relationship with the surviving spouse, just be available to that person. Go over and help with chores that may be an added burden to the surviving spouse. Bring food and stay to share it with that person, then encourage that person to help with cleaning up... things like that.

ex: Loss of a Job: Encourage the individual and assure them of their self-worth. Hang around, watch a movie together and wait for them to pick themselves up and shake off the dust.

There are so many variables to address so many problems, I think you get my drift. However, just be in the area of the person you care about that may be blue. Don't be surprised if you are pushed away at first, but keep coming back. Things will get better. A true friend will not take bursts of anger or crying to heart but understand it is a grieving process. Hope your situation is not this serious.

If you need more advice, seek counseling or find a good church. Good Luck!

Tell a joke.

Asda Medical

One day in the company canteen, Jack says to Mike behind him, "My elbow really hurts, I think I better see a doctor."

"Listen, don't waste time," Mike replies.

"There's a diagnostic computer down at Asda, just give it a urine sample and the computer will tell you what's wrong and what to do about it. It takes ten seconds and costs five pounds.....a lot quicker and better

than a doctor".

So Jack deposits a urine sample in a small jar and takes it to Asda. He deposits five pounds, and the computer lights up and asks for the urine sample. He pours the sample into the slot and waits.

Ten seconds later, the computer ejects a printout: You have tennis elbow.

Soak your arm in warm water and avoid heavy activity. It will improve in two weeks. That evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was, Jack began wondering if the computer could be fooled. He mixed some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and mast*rbated into the mixture for good measure. Jack hurries back to Asda, eager to check what will happen. He deposits five pounds, pours in his concoction, and awaits the results.

The computer prints the following:

1. Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener.

2. Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo.

3. Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab.

4. Your wife is pregnant. Twins. They aren't yours. Get a solicitor.

5. If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better ....

.......and thank you for shopping at Asda.

Usually if someone smiles at me (a genuine smile) when I am in a bad mood or in deep thought, it cheers me up. So a genuine smile!

Smile at everyone you see and smile before you pick up the phone, they will feel your smile when you answer. Keep your patience in a line up. Always approach the tradespeople you deal with in respect.

JUST BE A GOOD LISTENER. Listen to peoples problems, keeping aside ur own ideas. EVEN U MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE THEM SOLUTIONS TO THEIR PROBLEMS , ITS OK , U HAVE GIVEN THEM A GOOD FEELING THAT ATLEAST THEY HAVE A PERSON TO WHOM THEY CAN LET OUT THEMSELF. IN SHORT, A SENSE OF BELONGING SOMEWHERE.
